I think we are good on DL now unless we get the transfer from Albany.

For OL, the transfer from Florida is good with Cade coming back, if not need one more OT.

ILB and Safety are the other 2 where a really solid pickup would be nice.

For WR, we should be very picky like a Copeland from FL type transfer.

Anything else should be an upgrade to what we have existing. I think depth wise we made some improvements with these pickups. Really like the DL pickups here.

Hopefully Marley and potentially Whitehead can give us something with a move to ILB. Whitehead did technically do well, I mean he did average 6.5 yards per carry, which is elite, but he doesn't have the speed to be a running back pretty clearly. Not a ton of wiggle either.

Safety would be a big pickup if Flowers is gone. We have plenty of bodies at WR and DL, just need to develop the ones we have (not that we haven't been doing that, they just need to continue to get better). Calloway, Hyatt, Holiday, Merrill, Coby, Keyton have to continue to develop. I think Webb could see some playing time early on the outside.

From what I seen published, I dont think they are going to move Whitehead or Beckwith unless those players specifically request.

But he did. He played roughly 8-9 quarters worth of football this year. Our offense scored 65 points while he was at the helm. Clearly he guided the offense well enough.

Hey if you watched Joe Milton play QB this year and thought he looked good out there then good for you. Good luck with that.
He has terrible accuracy, stares down receivers, doesn't go through progressions, is hesitant to run when the pocket collapses and when he does run he is slow and looks scared to get hit. Worst of all, he has no football IQ at all. In fact, he doesn't check a single box that Heupel has mentioned in the past of what he looks for in a QB. I hope he transfers and if he doesn't I hope we can bring in enough talent that he never comes close to stepping on the field again for TN. But that's just me.

He ran the offense very well. If he doesn't overthrow soooooo many open receivers, perception would be different.
He just left so many points on the board it was a killer.

This is what I feel we need to sign from the portal

1 DL
1 LB
1 Safety

If we add any OL, WR, or RB that would be just the cherry on top.

We signed 4 Ol today and 2 RB. Not a huge need there.
I would like to see a corner more than a safety but otherwise agree.

Good points as usual. I’m not close enough to the workouts to know how players are developing but do know:
1 - We signed two 4* WRs last year - I’m hopeful that one or both have learned the system, gotten up to SEC speed, and learned how to block downfield well enough to step in an contribute next year. I wouldn’t turn down a stud WR wanting to come via the portal but we may be ok.
2 - We definitely need immediate help at LB and in the probability in the secondary too. I hope coach Banks can get a couple of guys via the portal who can come in a play immediately. I’ve heard Mitchell wasn’t gonna come back and while I love Beasley’s heart, we need a little more talent at LB.
3 - I always want more studs for the OL. We saw this year how injuries can kill you. I haven’t heard if Cade is staying or leaving but we need to recruit like he’s gone. We need somebody ready to play in September.

Milton is not terrible.

JG was terrible. Dormady was terrible.

Milton ran the offense pretty well. He made the right reads and didn't put the ball in harms way very often. Yes, the over throws were frustrating and the end of the OM game was bad. But you could do a lot worse for a back up QB (and we have).

Small averaged 5.5 yards per carry and had 11 TDs. Not sure what else he can do to impress you.
While the end of the Ole Miss game was a bad decision, just look at the pass that he made to Tillman that could have won the game.

1. Jared Verse - elite pass rush DE. We saw too many wasted opportunities on 3rd and long to get off the field due to lack of a consistent pass rush. IMO Verse would give us that edge presence that’s able to consistently bring QB pressure on passing downs.

2. LB- need desperate help in the middle. I like that Banks improves after getting dominated by the ole miss center, but I’m not going to put all the blame on Banks because the coaches failed to adjust. Wish we would have moved a DT in the center-guard gap to help stop the center lead QB draw.

3. Shutdown Corner - would absolutely love to get Eli Ricks but don’t believe there’s any connection or chance here, but you never know.

4. Safely- could use some on the backend

5. QB- I don’t think there’s anyway to go into the season with 3 scholarship QBs.

6. WR - this depends on CT. If he returns then I don’t believe we take one.

7. OL- Mincey

Verse. Still think M’Ba could be a surprise ala west. Ricks/Banks would be amazing addition. I think in the end we get someone at MLB that none of us are expecting/know about, and hopefully that’s a good thing.

I didn't say he looked good. I said he wasn't bad. He ran the offense effectively, but that doesn't mean he played well.

I don't know what you expect out of a back up QB, but if you're expecting them to be really good, you're seeing yourself up for disappointment.

Milton is absolutely a viable option. The offense still performed well with him at QB.

We already had good RB room, and now have a couple 4 stars coming in. Small lead the team in yardage and TDs. You always take an upgrade if it presents itself, but we're honestly good at RB.

I'd probably agree on the other 2 points.

The offense absolutely did not perform well under Milton. His deep ball is non existant and he's not the best decsion maker..as we saw against Ole Miss and Pitt. We don't go 7-5 this past season if Milton had started every game. Milton had the exact same issues at Mich.

38 of those points came in 4 QTS against a bad B.Green team. And we only scored 24 pts the last 3 Qtrs of that game.In a quarter and a half our offense scored 13 on Pitt while Milton was in the game and the lone touchdown was from a blocked punt that we got the ball on Pitts 2. Have to respectfully disagree on Milton, our offense looked stagnant under Milton.
