Wasn't he a project coming out of HS? Very lightly recruited?Jenkins leaving sucks. He was a good rotation guy and getting better each year.
Sucks to have a project player that we take a chance on, CRG coaches him up and turns him into a SEC player, then we lose him. What college football should do is start instituting transfer fees like professional soccer. In this instance, we take a chance on player no one wants, develop him and he leaves. The receiving institution should pay UT a fee for the rise in value. We made this kid some money and are adding value to the team that accepts him. It's what happens with every single "transfer" in soccer across the world-no matter what country or league. The receiving club plays the club that loses the player. Has nothing to do with player salary-that is a separate negotiation. There is no collective bargaining agreement that can extend across all leagues and countries with the different labor laws, so this is one of the ways around it. It's horse trading. This is similar, it's just that UT is getting nothing in return. Would be nice to pocket a few NIL bucks for our program as a reward for teaching this kid how to play football.
