That's literally all Thornton did. He housed several slants or go routes. However, our WRs are one of the worst groups in the nation at drops and generating separation so we either need a better WR coach, better WRs...or both.
He caught some deep slants and crosses, but I am talking about short throws and making people miss. Am I forgetting some?

We're gonna spend our money on our guys first. If there's guys asking more than what they're worth we wont pay it. See Tyler Baron last year.
This is a good mentality to have. How does this factor into a guy like Josh Thompson who we want from the portal and wants to decide soon?

Who are the 14 teams ahead of the Vols?

Now of those 14 teams how many have a baseball and softball program that recruits and competes every year to make the world series? How many have a men's basketball program competing for conference titles every year and Sweet Sixteen runs? Our ladies basketball program, despite lack of results is one of the top 5 brands still even KJH was pulling in big time portal players. Some of these other schools are really only having to feed 2 or 3 sports from their NIL collective.
That’s what I’m trying to figure out.
People on here reference Spyre as being top 2-3 and assume it’s putting UT football in top 2-3 money wise.

I’m assuming that’s not the case but I don’t know

Need upgrades at OL, WR, LB, and S. Those were the weakest groups all year. LBs will grow but they’re too slow. Both of those units on defense killed our defense once they got exposed a bit.
Agree. I think the LB issue will be addressed with the development of Spillman and Carter, plus the freshmen.

The other positions need some help from the portal.

Sadly I think OL/WR might need help in staffing changes...

Cause on paper WR room was full of talent.

HS Rankings per 247
Bru McCoy - 5 star, 10th National Player, 1st ATH (didn't realize he was an OLB...so maybe playing out of position his whole career?)
Dont'e Thornton - 4 star, 75th National Player, 11th WR
Mike Matthews - 4 star, 40th National Player, 9th WR
Braylon Staley - 4 star, 78th National Player, 15th WR
Kaleb Webb - 4 star, 199th National Player, 35th WR
Squirrel White - 3 star, 84th WR
Chris Brazzell - 3 star, 116th WR

I mean that's plenty of talent... not many other position groups have 4 former top 100 players in them.

I wouldn’t overreact to a single game.

I also don’t care if fans “feel good”. Fans are way too emotional. If we based everything off of feels then we would go through multiple HCs per season in every sport.
Didn’t we try that in the 15 years before Danny White and Heupel? Lord knows I don’t want to go back to that.

Spyre has always been said to be top 2-3.
But the Football Vols are always down near the 15 ranking it seems.

so my Question is, Why?
Spending on other sports taking more at UT than other places?
Heupel to picky and on bargains?
I think we got a head start on everyone else when NIL started but would be shocked if we are in the top five in terms of $$$$.

Based on what exactly?

Despite being the MAIN focus of blocking every week he made 11 more total tackles while having one of the highest pressure rates in all of college. And if ya watched the games he was also the most held pass rusher BY FAR this year.
Truth but was hoping no one would respond to BOT! He is the biggest troll on here!

Georgia's weakness this year was offensive explosiveness, so what does Kirby do? He takes action to fix it. I can think of another offense that could use a similar boost.
I don’t understand WR’s going to UGA though. They will win, but McConkey, Pickens, and Wims are the only receivers to eclipse 700 yards under Kirby. No one over 750 yards.

We’ve had 4 different WR’s eclipse at least 800 yards in 4 years under Heupel.

True, UGA's passing game has always relied on dominant tight ends.
