I agree with you but think Boo was better than just ok for a true freshman on defense

Saw him and Sampson two weeks ago in a Knoxville. He’s built for OVC football and not SEC. Both are smaller than advertised but Sampson has muscle on his frame. I get it as I’m 5’11 but was 6’1 in the team media guide.

Would be a great 'package guy', but would require devoting resources just for one play. Not how we roll/

Has anyone considered the possibility we haven’t added a lot of portal guys yet because we want the portal to close so none of our guys hit the portal because of who we add?

We clearly are going to need to add a couple of WRs in the portal, but if you did before the portal closed, you might spook Matthews / Staley / etc

It may be a little shady, but the coaches have to be clever in navigating the portal.

My thoughts is they swing and miss on higher rated guys and you have two choices…

Go into the season with a few scholarships open or sign lower rated guys and hope you find a diamond in the rough.

At this point, with the portal, there is no advantage to leaving scholarships open because you can basically cut guys at will now.

Yep. Used to beat out SC, UK, Misery and ACC schools for lower tiered 4* kids.

Now we beat out UGa, Bama, OSU etc for a sizable chunk of our roster. Look how many of the guys in this 25 class are top300 recruits. Like half of them. THATS how you make the playoffs regularly and actually have a shot some years to win it all. If we can keep stacking classes like the 24, 25 classes and better...we will have a significantly better team than the 10-2 team we had this season.

Seems like a lot of people want to jump on Banks because of the UGA and OSU games...seems like they SHOULD be really damn impressed that he put together a Top5 defense nationally witn OBVIOUS talent issues at safety AND LB. The 2 best (Top 5 teams) we played were able to scheme offensively to exploit the lack of speed and talent at those 2 positions. That isn't a surprise...its reality. 2 of the best offensive coords in FBS that both had MORE talented teams than us. Theres a reason Banks was a semifinalist for the Broyles Award this season. He masked our issues all year...and the defense absolutely carried UT against the SEC teams on our schedule. Thankfully we just signed the best LB class in 20+ years at UT for 2025. They will mature next season while we drop a few games. Lets see what happens at Safety.

Those end of the year conversations are pretty straight forward. Some are told to look elsewhere and some are told they are part of the plans. Others are proactive in reading the playing time, depth chart and incoming players.

Would you rather watch him sit on the bench. Hard to get someone in the WR Corps with him on the roster. College football has been a business for years and it has grown into a big business. It now involves NIL and NIL is part of the business.

My wife does not understand the Titans letting go of Henry. I have had to explain it to her a 100 times. Changes and the fact that it is a business. She follows the Ravens and I pointed out to her once again that he is having another solid year and was the best for him as well. The Titans would have killed him and could not focus on moving forward. IOW, NIL as we know will turn this into a bigger business and I expect somewhere in the future a bunch of lawsuits in an attempt to fix it.

There is one clear truth the 25 Class will be counted on heavily to provide serious Depth this next season. With some players deciding to stay another year that could graduate and move on there are only few Transfers needed. I am excited to see these last 2 classes play significant roles to our Success next year. Much better than others needing 15+ each year to have a chance. Go Vols. In CHRIST Alone

Not many are/were as good as Pickens. Guy was something else.
