This illustrates the differences in personality types I guess

Oh no, we are losing all of the WRs we repeatedly complained about all year and said they didn’t need to be on the field. Let the young guys play!

And

Oh no, a player is contemplating entering the portal, we are doomed, no way can we work something out with him.

Nevermind the fact we have an EXCELLENT history of retaining the players we really want to keep

Easily a 5* and a Parade All American. He was redshirted if I'm not mistaken so his stats compared to Boo are not exactly oranges to oranges.

Jeremiah Smith was the #1 WR on every single service except ESPN where he was #2. He was also rated the #1 player overall in 3 of 4 services (ESPN had him #4).

Anyone who thought Matthews was the #1 WR was kidding themselves.

Doesn’t mean he can’t be a stud but Smith is indeed on a different level.

Well, I was referring more to posters on here considering Matthews the best of the class during his recruitment than the recruiting services. There was a time during his recruitment when some services had him as the #1 WR, though. Case in point:

If Nico is staying (and I’m sure he is despite the crazy rumor in the ff), I’d hope that Nico has been helping our coaches saying where we need the most help. More than any of our players, he knows what kind of returning talent we have and don’t have on offense.
Something like…”I think we’ve got such and such SEC caliber talent returning on the oline and wr…so, we need such and such”.
I would think that Heupel and our off staff would respect his open and honest opinion. Who knows, he may have already given it and some players have been encouraged to leave. At least, I’m hoping so.

If you honestly think that Nico knows, more than anyone, what kind of returning talent we have and don't have on offense then you should be actively calling for the firing of Josh Heupel and every single coach on the offensive side of the ball. That statement was ridiculously uninformed.

Right… but at that point you aren’t getting knee jerk reactions. You have time to work with the players, give some clarity to roles, etc.

I’m not saying my premise is accurate, but it’s plausible.

Especially considering how much the Volquest guys talk about “managing” the guys on the team while adding portal guys.
