Are the Miami tampering rumors true? If so they need to be burned and razed as a program, death penalty.
if they get the death penalty for that, then Tony's baseball program needs it too. we just celebrate it when he's obviously doing it.

but reality is that everyone is tampering. There's zero stopping or policing it.

I would say I’m disillusioned by the state of college athletics, but it’s really just Tennessee football. We should not be struggling to keep our own players after having arguably our best season in 2 decades. Some will try and spin it as “this happens to every team” but I don’t buy it. We have some serious issues right now, whether it’s development from the assistants, NIL, or just recruiting prowess.

I don’t find myself getting this worked up about TN baseball or basketball because those programs have proven to me they deserve our trust. I don’t think this staff has proven we should have blind faith in them yet.
We were 3-7 four years ago. We just finished a playoff season when we couldn't sniff a NY6 bowl for more than a decade. . . and that's not mentioning '22. What more do they need to do to prove they know what they're doing?

"It's not all doom and gloom, but it's not all sunshine and roses either." -josh and swain, cant remember which one said it though

He has requested transfer papers…TN has two days to put them in. Heup and Nico will be working to keep it from happening as others can’t officially call him until then. IMO he felt like Nico may be leaving and jumped in. Nico didn’t and I think there is a decent chance to keep him from officially going in on Monday. We will see if they can get it done.

Two things can be true. I can respect the job Heupel has done to get us to the point we are now. I can also believe he hasn’t shown he can make the hard decisions necessary to take the program to the next level. There is dead weight on this coaching staff. The longer he refuses to admit that the less likely this program is to be a true title contender.

Rumor going around campus is that Matthews wants $100,000 for each reception he got this year.
His agent says they were the best 7 catches in the history of SEC Football, & $700,000 a year is a hell of a deal for this Jerry Rice clone..
I think we should pay him whatever he wants, just like we paid Lance Heard.

Is Tony hitting up players mid-season that aren't even in the portal? Because Miami has done it at least three times now, between Liberty/NC State/Washington State(x2).

They're the most blatant in D1. Burn em at the stake.

Giving 18-22 yr old college kids, millions of dollars and no restrictions on transferring or consequences for opting out of games and then letting "agents/cousins" get involved negotiating, is putting the nail in the coffin of college athletics. The NCAA and mega conferences have done their share of ruining college football, too. Openly paying the players is one thing but what's happening now is crazy. The NFL might as well do like the MLB and start drafting high school players and putting them in minor league teams. College football is gone.

When Saban was hired at alabama and the coaches salaries got so high and wild, I knew it would eventually come to this. Adding gambling to amateur sports was also a horrible idea. Greed is death.

I think we basically said the same thing in two different threads.

Yes. Very common rumor that he talks to players he likes after series’s against their team during the season

Time will tell. I won’t pretend to be an insider. I would like to know if him hitting portal is due to NIL or something else.
It’s money. We have 3 receivers and he’s a 5 star who’s good. He’s got them by the nuts and he’s squeezing them. I’ve supported these kids and UT for years to help provide scholarships and futures for all of them. If this is what I’m supporting then it’s time for Braves season tickets and having summer fun while not supporting what this has become. I’m fine with talent fee and paying these guys but year to year mercenaries who obviously are not getting an education as any priority, is not something I’m going to support

Is Heupel tampering though? Doesn't seem like he is, or to be the type to tamper with players not in the portal. Needs to start!
