Jalen Smith entering is a good thing in my opinion. He’s very limited athletically. We should get Spillman on the field now that he’s back over him and we have a crop of fantastic LBs coming in next year.

As long as that is what actually happens then that is a good plan.

I thought Spilman was having trouble with the scheme? And I saw he had a cast too.

So it was just injury keeping him away?

Smith was improving but he’s not the athlete that Carter, Spillman, Harmon, and Gass are

Interesting. He is a big part of our LB rotation. He was playing the 2nd most snaps some games at LBer. Need Spillman and Burns to step up immediately for this season and going forward.

Still wouldn't look portal for another LBer. I like our room. Play them kids!!!

stupid question, if these LBs are so slow and getting recruited over within a year of getting playing time - why are we recruiting them to start with?

Is it poor evaluation? Can't blame development when they weren't here long enough to actually develop right? I know Herring was taken to help with his brother, but this is two LBs in two years now.

Is it a change in coaching leading to a different methodology in what they're looking for?

Some kids retain speed when they gain 40 pounds, some kids don’t

Only reason I can think of that we wouldn’t target him is that he only has 1 year of eligibility. It seems like last year it was reported or rumored that Heupel wanted guys with at least 2 years of eligibility to reduce turnover and thereby preserve our culture.

Portal shouldn’t be opening yet. Forcing some players to make their decisions now so they don’t get lost in the shuffle

Big difference is that Dooley didn’t have the transfer portal available to cover it up.
