Why do we have a young coach that’s “learning” on our staff? At a place like this we should have an experienced and good WR coach. I assume we just like his recruiting at this point.
Young coaches in a bunch of places. Texas’ WR coach only has a few years experience. His first coaching experience was in the defensive side in the NFL. Notre Dame has a young WR coach with experience at Cincinnati. Georgia’s WR coach, James Coley, didn’t coach WR until he got to UGA. He has experience as an OC, but he’s known for his recruiting.

I’d be willing to bet OSU spent the vast majority on football. We spread it around to a bunch of high achieving programs.

True and while I love baseball and basketball programs right now, I’d kill then both in a heartbeat for a natty in football. So would the vast majority of this fanbase. That’s just reality.

Better safe than sorry:

Clemson won nation championships because fans refused to talk on public forums about where the offering plates from New Springs Church really went

Tennessee fans like to put themselves in an ego race thinking it’s “us versus the current administration” like Danny White hasn’t turned the athletic department around from ruins.

I really despise a few loud portions of our fan base that scream and tantrum like toddlers anytime there’s a minor bump
You can say that again

I dunno that baseball natty felt pretty insane with how quick Tony climbed that mountain. Would love to string a few more of those together. I’d kill basketball before baseball

I wouldn't. I think there's a lot of pride in being an everything school. I think it helps create value across all sports and our nil overall.

In fact I might be one to say it's the reverse. Show me top 5 programs in basketball, baseball that are competing for and winning Natty's, and football program that's competing for playoff spots regularly... We good.

And honestly...I really don't see a reason at this point why we can't do it all. We're basically there, in all sports.

Basketball is a weird one for me. I technically fell in love with Vols basketball a year before Vols football because of how fun Bruce Pearls teams were to watch. It’s just the sport isn’t the same sport it was in the mid 00s because refs have a whistle problem. It’s just too much, so the sport as a whole doesn’t appeal to me as much as it used to.

what? baseball
and basketball are so much better

Yeah but if you ask, the majority of the fanbase cares about football way more than the other two. That’s the point. As much as it’s been fun to watch baseball and basketball, if you told me both programs had to shut down but we would win constant natties in football, where do I sign up? Sorry guys. 💀

To be fair I suspect a lot on here wouldn’t. People on forums tend to be more hardcore into everything Vols. But the vast majority would still imo. And yes it is cool to hang pride on being an “everything school” but gimme “back to back natties in football school” any day.

I was at school during the Pearl tenure. It was the only thing we had with baseball being a nonfactor and football crashing. However seeing college baseball grow the way it has the past decade and our squad becoming a juggernaut alongside the increased popularity/viewership makes me want to keep that program at the top even after Tony is done. He set us up for success now and laid the foundation to be a permanent competitor.

I’m not sure a lot of people realize the lasting impact Tony is going to have.

True. I never thought id enjoy anything baseball anything. Had aways been a “baseball is boring” guy. But Vols and Tony V changed my perspective on it for sure. It’s been a fun ride the last few years.

Appreciate all the insiders talking us down from the ledge over the past 48 hrs. Even if we lose MM which hope we don’t we still have a competent coaching staff that based on past record we know will go out and upgrade at the positions of need.

Just imagine if we still had Butch or Dooley as our coach during the NIL era. Dooley would probably let the entire offensive line leave without replacing them and Butch would be giving out quotes about how the portal can’t measure a 5 star heart or some nonsense like that. Heck if Kiffin was our coach our entire roster would be new every year.
Dooley would be fighting for his life in this era. He'd be way past crutches at this point. I'm imagining Stephen Hawking in a visor and orange slacks rolling up to the podium while his computer voice (with a country accent) compares NIL to the Cold War and Tennessee football to communism. He'd call us the Orange Scare or some BS.....

You know what, with all of Heupel's faults, I'm so happy to be arguing about what it takes to beat the elite teams instead of what shower techniques can properly prevent our whole team from getting Staph infection.

I loved playing baseball when I was young but despised watching it for many years. Have really enjoyed watching Vols baseball over the last 4-5 years.

If only the Twitter and Facebook morons would spend their time infiltrating and sabotaging other programs rather than our own.
You know what? Maybe our coaching staff has too much pride/ honor to tamper like everybody else, but also..... maybe someone with the day off tomorrow could make a new Twitter handle..... maybe it's called "AlabamaBagman". Maybe it's called "DefinitelyABigShotUGABooster". And MAYBE, they could slide into the DMs of the mothers of certain teams players. And MAYBE, they could invite said mothers to dinner at Chili's to wine and dine them (during happy hour of course). And MAYBE they could start to have inside jokes that only the two of them would understand. MAYBE they could share personal information that you'd only allow yourself to be vulnerable around people you truly care about, thus not only making yourself available but also intriguing said mother into feeling comfortable to share her own honest feelings with you. Then MAYBE, they could end the night with a kiss on the cheek, hoping for a little bit more but knowing that you have to keep these mothers yearning for more. It's at this point that you've earned their trust and are ready for the final phase. Which, if you've followed all of my steps.... means you can do what this teams needs and MAYBE, you could promise said mothers more playing time (and NIL deals from top shelf Knoxville businesses like Soccer Taco/ Urban Bar) for their sons if the transferred to Tennessee. I've got my New Years Resolutions. What about yall?
