It has one edge. The negative one. There is no good edge to those idiots.
The Lunatic Fringe of VolTwitter dabbles into high school athletics as well. Some of the same account names said some completely asinine and untrue things about the school where I teach before and after a Substate basketball game a few years ago. Combination of free time, arrogance, and ignorance.

Did you see the Florida graphic? 🤦🏼‍♂️

I love Huepel, really he's the guy. Defense is good. Offense, isnt. All this drama around one player...reality if recruiting was where it needs to be. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If Pope isnt the guy you have to make a change. If one of my Supervisors lost my Company 6 employees...LOL.

Dont blink!
If you looked at the ratings of our receiver room this past season ON PAPER it would have looked similar.

1. Eugene Wilson was not a 5 star on any ranking system I am aware of. And his production hasn't been super noteworthy in the 2 years he's been in Sun Belt Billy's system, despite Mertz being a substantially better passing QB that Lagway has shown to be thus far.

2. Vernell Brown and Dallas Wilson are gonna be true freshman. The likelihood of either of them having a Jeremiah Smith or Ryan Williams sort of impact is very small.

3. Mizell and Hawkins were mostly irrelevant this year.

4. While Sturdivant does bring experience, but he's been super mediocre over his college career and had a whopping 315 yards in 12 games as a senior this past year.

The stubbornness of the offensive staff to play young players is hurting us. It’s just how it is in the new NCAAF. The defense doesn’t suffer from that except for a bit in the backfield and isn’t suffering the same transfer woes.
Esp when the three seniors are sucking wind

On3 he was.

Looking at multiple WRs tells me Mike is gone. Hope I’m wrong.

Guessing the RB is a depth piece, curious who they locked in on.
ugh, yeah. like Ive said. any logical person can see he's finding any reason to go, just as conversely he could find any reason to stay. All things being equal.

There should never be, in any scenario where Tennessee struggles to recruit the upper crust of WR talent.

We have the pedigree at that position, we have the QB, and the system. Period.

So, using the old deductive process, what does that leave us? Kelsey Pope.

Kelsey Pope to all Vol Twitter...IMG_6855.gif

Y’all are reading way too much into this as it pertains to Matthews. Why would Tennessee only look at one receiver in the portal? What if they don’t get him?

Not gonna lie, based on how they ended the season, I’ve been worried about them.
They beat Ole Miss thanks to their defense stepping up and forcing 3 TOs. But UF had only 344 yards of total offense. If you re-watch that game, you'll see that OM beat themselves.

They didn't beat anyone else of note and they got throttled by Texas. This is Pruitt circa 2019. They "finished" strong by beating mediocre teams and everyone thought we were on the up and up. But we quickly found out that was fools gold in 2020.

I'm looking at bigger picture.

Alabama loses one 5 star WR. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

We have enough WR talent stacked and,

a tree falls in the woods, who hears it?

I would say they are better than Pruitt’s team in 2019. Pruitt didn’t beat an Ole Miss or an LSU level team. But I agree with your overall point. Folks may be overrating what they did, especially given the Texas result.

I mean, we’ve lost, what? 4? Not counting MM. Plus the 2 who are out of eligibility. It would make sense to get multiple WRs whether MM is back or not.
Maybe, but why let pieces move on if you don't have replacements you feel are better locked in? Something feels very wrong about all of this.

I'm starting to believe there was a problem at that position with staff, scheme and players and or all the above.

Either way if MM is gone the staff probably needs a shakeup, possibly even if he comes back

I think some damage control is being done via the concerted effort to blame social media posts but this was about disconnects, mistrusts and possibly mishandling of this situation from the beginning. It never gets where it is now if there wasn't already a disconnect or issue. Sure the negativity about Spyre didn't help but it didn't cause it.
