Congrats on being an idiot.

After this post, you said “those were short yardage situations”

Again, you never clarified.

“Haha”

Yeah you’re right.

I only saw Bishop, but I looked at what I quoted. And you did mention Lewis.

But you didn’t have to be a A-hole….

With the “haha”

bA…

sorry but wth is this guy?
football sniper it looks like.
We have one WR on our roster that exceeded 450 yards receiving.
Did you keep up with absolutely none of the season? We had guys struggle with injury this year more than typically so we've really had to spread it out. And no one exceeding 450 yards is just evidence of how many different guys we had actually producing. The TEs were featured more this year too which steals WR production.

It's not hard to pull back and look at things with perspective.

Yes, our three tight ends accounted for 49 receptions, 527 yards and 7 touchdowns.

I'll share one more of these for now and stop cluttering the thread lol. Here's a breakdown of our returning players on offense. Assuming Sampson / Thornton are gone after this year.

Disclaimer: I use recruiting grades to help estimate / predict a player's production (this gets phased out over time as they play), but that still only gets you so far with the players that have seen minimal / zero playing time, so take what you see on the OL with a grain of salt.

I feel totally fine at the skill positions. We'll see a lot of growth there I'm sure. The OL scares the crap out of me. Heard / Johnson have played but they've been inconsistent at best. Maybe the young guns will be alright but there's no way to know for sure.
Where are you getting these #s?

If you’re a top 10 ranked recruit out of hs, you don’t plan to hang around for your 4th season more less a fifth season. Red shirting him would be useless
He could play in 4 games and still Redshirt, but I believe he is a rare exception that may play more games than that. I doubt he redshirts. Still OT is the hardest position to adjust too and even great ones sometimes are not ready right out of the gate. But I do feel he will make a impact as a freshman even if is later in his freshman year. I expect he will be starter by his Sophmore year at least. Just depends on true strength and how quickly he adjust to the speed and power of the next level of play. GBO

Dane Key is not a guy we’ll take seriously imo. Fine player but not worth what he’ll make.

We’re not going after KC from NC State.

Matthews is a great kid and glad he came but he needed to move on.
Good. Key is not that good of a WR. Don’t see why KC isn’t being pursued. We need playmakers at WR.

Calculating them myself on top of data from practically everywhere I can get it. A ton of scraping, lots of normalizing, fuzzy-matching with player names, data cleaning.

All the metrics per position are fed into a bunch of models to determine how they impact their team’s performance, points scored/allowed, etc. with adjustments for SOS, usage, alignment, and context. Then each metric has its own set of models to find out how much to weight each year / game and how much to weight recruiting grades to get a forward-locking estimate of points added.

It’s quite similar to Evan Miya’s approach in basketball actually, if you’re familiar. Hopefully life will settle down enough at some point to get it up on a website.

That's a bit misleading. Our top 3 WRs have been pretty banged up for much of the season. I guess you can be disappointed in their ability you stay healthy.

Also, we've thrown less this year than any year under Huep. So that itself is going suppress yardage numbers.

The problem with getting a portal receiver is, we’ve kind of seen that it takes until the second year in the system before a receiver can make an impact.
With this being evident in cases like Brazzell and Thornton I really don’t see why we would entertain portal WRs moving forward. I get that they are shiny objects out there but they are short term investments when they come in that you focus on to make work. That time/reps takes away from the development of others. Webb/Nimrod/Leacock/Matthews development have all hurt due to large amount of reps being taken away by Thornton and Brazzell.
