How would we feel about the room if we added Carnell Tate?+

Probably only taking 1 more proven starter. Can we wait until after OSU is out of the playoffs (either this coming weekend or after the Final?) Branch is probably gone by then. Maybe others that enter between now and then are gone too.

I like Tate a lot, but it's a gamble to wait on him, unless we've been tampering and know we got him locked down after the CFP.

With Matthews and Jefferson looking like they’re going to be in the fold I feel pretty good about the future of our WR room.

I think none of our WR transfers are going to end up in a better situation than they left. Not sure what other coaches think about Matthews but he is rated as a 92 transfer on 247 and didn't really show a lot to garner a big NIL deal somewhere. Squirrel put a lot of missed catches and falling down when he should have kept his feet catches on tape this year that may hurt his stock. Think they might find out the NIL grass isn't greener somewhere else. That or the outlook here was just so bad that they are taking their chances. Hopefully this is not the case and just poor judgement by young men on jumping ship.

Do we know if these Tennessee WR's that are in the portal were ask to take a cut in NIL money based on performance.

Amari Jefferson isn’t playing baseball. He wouldn’t be able to crack the lineup considering the demands of playing 2 sports at a high level. It’s not like Tony V is struggling to field a competitive team. There are going to be elite freshmen redshirting this year because there isn’t enough playing time for them. AJ isn’t just going to step in a few weeks before first pitch and play.

Todd Helton played both. It can be done. Not saying AJ will, but let's not act like it's unheard of or impossible.

Mike Matthews is not headed into the NCAA transfer portal after all. The prized Tennessee five-star freshman wide receiver indicated his plans to put his name into the transfer database at the deadline over the weekend, but several days later his plans have changed and he is expected to remain with the Vols, per 247Sports national college football reporter Matt Zenitz on Friday morning. Matthews never officially entered the portal after previously indicating he planned to do so.

I kept wondering why everyone had him gone already … I wish everyone patience for the new year … let’s give the coaches a chance to set the roster before we judge … they have given us a lot more these last 4 years then most prior coaches gave us
