Why should we find out before the guy signs with TN?
I’m asking the who the targets are. Not who’s guaranteed to sign with us.

All he has to say is “this is who we have interest in”

And to answer @T2P_Priceless fair point, but rivals insiders will still usually say who the targets are. Most media guys do stay quiet.

He has every right not to answer, I’m just asking why can’t he divulge more info.

it’s easier to be patient when you know who the targets are…just saying.

Is there some super secret reason why we can’t know? Like a poster pointed out earlier…it’s always our media guys/insiders that never give much, it’s always “we’re getting someone” or “we’re evaluating, trust me” whereas rival board media guys/insiders will just come out and spill the beans.
Last time they let a target slip out, LSU swept in at the 11th hour. Let the targets be a surprise. Yall don't have to know every move the coaching staff makes.

Work under the assumption that everyone is a target. You will know when it's announced.

Go to sleep.

Have you learned nothing of trust today?

Our staff must really be putting all their eggs in the post playoff, portal entries as those teams drop out and those kids can still enter...

But even so the add/drop or classes cut off will come up later this month. So will be interesting to see who they add

Josh Thompson

There’s a reason we are not in the know. We’ll know when we’re supposed to. And not a minute sooner.

Anyone with any connection to the coaches was getting the same information. He submitted the papers and completed the portal training video. He talked to coaches twice. The first time was an NIL routine talk like the one they had with Boo. They assured him Nico was returning etc. He seemed satisfied and then went quiet for two days. He knew he had til yesterday to submit, but reporters thought it was three days ago. He asked for one more meeting with his parents and coaches to hear the plan to fix the passing game and develop him. It was a good talk, they were satisfied and he never entered the portal. The long quiet was confusing, but apparently he knew how many days he had and wanted his parents and coaches together one time. From his perspective, he wasn’t leaving and it wasn’t dramatic, but it was stressful for the fans.
Speaks a lot to that young man’s character. He’s looking out for his future as he should.

No need to get a "stiffie" it's most likely not any of those OSU WR's.

Ebuka probably goes pro.
Smith will only be a Sophomore
Tate ain't leaving when he can team with Smith as the most unstoppable duo in college football at WR.

Ohio State has the NIL money to offer both substantially well.

It's also easier to be patient when you've been through this before and things turned out alright.

Every year, our fans gnash teeth over who we're going to get/lose in the portal. Every year (under Heupel), we end up winning the portal.

I'm not coming down on you, Trippie, because I totally get it. I'm on here every day looking for info. It's tough to be patient. But we'll get what we need. I believe that...even if we don't yet know who those targets are.

Has NFL grades and a guard…

USC fans are upset he’s leaving too

Is he a one-year guy? Looks like he's a senior, so I'm assuming one year left. I thought I read somewhere that we preferred to take guys with multiple years left. But I would also guess they're willing to make some exceptions.

It boggles my mind that with all the HS OL we've recruited the last couple of years, Elarbee has only (maybe) developed Satterwhite to start. We should have guards on the team that can play at a reasonably high-level IMO. I miss the '80's and '90's when we produced some beast OL.

But maybe the 4-5* talent sitting behind Smith and Tate hit the portal? OSU just stacks WR talent. Hartline must be one hell of a recruiter.

A 1-year guy on the OL this year might be good. He would hold a place until this year's freshmen (Ginther, Perry, Anderson, et all) are ready.

Just curious on what the plans are for the passing game. This years scheme waant impressive at all. Neither was last years. WRs cannot create seperation. That seems like a talent/development issue. Not impressed with Pope to this point.

I actually don’t care who it is.

Was just asking a question, that’s all. Per usual, the defenders (not you) , for no reason had to play superhero.

It’s not that deep.

Makes total sense. I think these kids have so much leverage on the school that they can afford to take their time. He could have put his name in the portal and still stayed, but glad he decided to not to submit fully and avoided even more fan drama.

The offense is the same as it was then. The execution is poor. There was film breakdown during the season that showed plenty of receivers running wide open at times. Poor qb protection at times. Other times were poor throws and bad/slow reads. Nico going thru progressions is no where near HH. When he had more time in the vandy game, he looked a lot better.
This was the most frustrating part of this year. In the passing game, it was always 2/3 prices working but 1 catastrophically failing. And never the same piece twice. One play Nico has time but either he doesn’t see the windows or the WRs were covered and he scrambled too late. Other times he was getting blown up at the snap while WRs were running uncovered downfield.

Didn’t it happen this year with OSU?
Most of the players were recruited to OSU out of high school. Just because OSU spent $20 million doesn't mean all was portal additions.

Howard
Downs
Judkins
The Mississippi CB can't remember his name

We're the key portal additions on the team.

OSU wasn't Mississippi Rebels built like most believe...

I just remembered all the talk last year from all the talking heads saying OSU was spending money like crazy trying to buy a championship. I assumed it was more players from the portal but didn’t really look close. They did get some studs though. Thanks for the clarification.
