And when the playoffs come and go with no real movement, what will be the excuse then? Don’t get me wrong, most players in the portal are there for a reason but the reality is you probably can’t win a NC without adding 3-4 quality additions even for teams with better recruiting numbers. Ohio State isn’t in the playoffs right now without their portal additions and neither is Notre Dame.

? All I’m saying is nobody is gonna tell you who we are trying to get to enter the portal when they are not yet in the portal. Doesn’t mean they’ll actually enter.

And who cares what other teams had to do to reach the playoffs. We were there this year doing it Heup’s way.

I don’t have the name of the WR but there is someone we are supposedly working on under the table in addition to Jefferson.

Here is a guy to watch out for at RB potentially.

We have no depth. It really all just ain’t about talent. You are losing 15 to the portal let alone the seniors that are graduating. And the others going to the draft.

I haven't seen anyone "in the know" like Hubbs, AP etc discuss us taking more than 5 or 6 guys total from the portal...with 1 of those already being a likely Guard on the Oline we signed. AP was just saying we are willing to spend to get those 5 or 6 guys.

Hubbs and AP say the same things often posted here taking from the portal:

1 or 2 WRs. Jefferson? And a bigshot?

2 Oline. Moe signed. 2nd Guard?

1 or 2 Def. Tackles. Depth

1. Safety? Coaches may be fine here.

5 or 6 guys from portal. Means we still have to lose 2 or 3 guys in spring to get down to 83 scholarships. Everyone else has 85 but we hired a low IQ Gump.

Branch’s high school highlights are next level but his production has been worse than squirrel white.

Would be happy if he came at some price but I’d be patient. Other things were evaluating.

I’m willing to wait it out for everybody’s season to be over but if we don’t land a big time WR then this was a major whiff. I get the production argument, but our staff had to see a guy like this and drool they could make him put up big numbers.

Roster management is not as static as it used to be if there’s a key portal option we can get and that player wants to be here. They could move someone else to non-scholarship and make up the difference with a NIL option.

The player would have to agree to that, and I don’t believe we are doing that with anyone that really contributes.
