Jeanty was amazing. He wins 90% of every other year. Travis Hunter had 96 catches, 1250 yards, 15 TDs. On top of that… “Hunter’s 90.9 PFF coverage grade ranks third among all cornerbacks. His 42.0 passer rating allowed places ninth among Power Four cornerbacks, while his four interceptions are tied for the fourth most among that same group. And he did all that while also starting at wide receiver for the Buffaloes.”

I have no problem with the opinion that Jeanty should have won it. It’s that you said “the only reason he won was because of Deion.” Don’t minimize his season. It was incredible.
Hunter wasn’t the best WR in the nation nor was he the best DB or overall player. It was a very good season no doubt. But if Hunter had those identical stats and played for a different coach, he wouldn’t have won the Heisman.

Man that announcer yelling: "The best player in college football!" every time he ran through the screen. Annoying as ...

Yes he would've. Furthermore, if a Vol had played both ways and had put up numbers even close to those and DIDN'T win the Heisman, you and every other Vol fan would rightfully be furious.

It's fine to prefer Jeanty and think he should've won it. But you're letting your disdain for Deion cloud your logic about Hunter.

Yep. Hunter was actually what they tried to sell us that Woodson was. He had an historic season.

I’d have had no problem with Jeanty winning. I have no problem with Hunter winning. Both were deserving.

Disagree. Hunter may not have been the best WR or the best DB (pretty subjective on who is the best CB, tbh), but he was easily among the best at both positions. And he played like 100 snaps a game giving elite production at both positions.

It was a weak year for Heisman candidates but he was easily the most deserving, imo. I don't think people fully appreciate how valuable it is to be an elite player on both sides of the ball. Disregard the impressiveness of the feat itself, and understand that he's giving you double the value of pretty much everyone else on the field.

I don't get it either. The constant disdain for Deion Sanders by Tennessee fans, what did Deion EVER do to Tennessee?

So what if Deion has a different coaching style and philosophy? Is it because Seaton chose Colorado over Tennessee at the last minute? Nobody should give 2 ***** that Deion is an attention seeker been like that his whole playing and coaching career.

Deion was an outstanding player of the game.

I don't think he's coached long enough to be able to know how good a coach he is. His reputation as a player has led to him getting some excellent players, which allow him to out-talent other teams. But his body of work is still too small to know if he's outcoaching other teams or just has better talent. IMO, he's not ready for the NFL, but I could easily be wrong.

As a person, he comes across extremely arrogant. That's why most people don't like him.

There have been times that he looked to be outcoached by lesser talented teams imho. He seems to get by on sizzle more than steak.

He doesn't have to do anything to me personally, I just don't like the guy.

The whole banning a sports journalist for asking tough questions is typical of him.

Arrogant individuals are everywhere. Probably a few on VolNation if I was a betting individual..

Deion was also always a "me first" player. I'll never forget him running down the sidelines high stepping toward the end zone with his team losing by 25 points in the fourth quarter when he was with the Falcons. His sons, and Hunter to an extent, display the same characteristics on the field. Deion played, and has coached, as though he is more interested in individual accolades than team success. He also, as a coach, wants all the attention on him and his team when they win but doesn't want to be questioned about anything when they lose. I think all those things, added to the arrogance you mentioned, are why many people don't like him.

He specifically stated in the last episode of "Coach Prime" that he didn't coach for himself as people thought. He coached for his sons. (Strikingly for a NCAAF coach, not for the other players, team, or program.)

That sounded like a self-spoken indictment to me.
