Especially since he may be RB3. Lewis has elite ability, IMO, and DeSean Bishop isn't giving away carries to anyone. Bishop ranked 3rd in the SEC in ypc among RBs with at least 50 carries. If we want to bring in a seasoned vet to lighten the load on those guys, why not?
This is what I said at the start of the off-season. We don't "need" another Dylan Sampson. That would be a luxury and a luxury that might make Lewis or Bishop leave in the spring. We just need a guy who can be a Jabari Small type, like we had the first 3 years of Heup's tenure. And ideally, this guy is good in pass protection. He's quite clearly adept at catching the ball too.

So we let Seldon go, not wanting to give him a chance at WR and he could still be RB, yet we are looking at a mid RB in Thomas and Humphrey is still out there... This is a cluster F... everyone will be happy with me stepping away and just lurking, as this is just getting Pathetic. I can't wait to see this board in the fall... wonder if most will still be in denial... We spent all our money supposedly on freshman (class was like 10-15, not even top 5) and retains, and have nothing left to replace the talent we lost. We sign Banks to an extension--- our talent level this year masked his inability to make adjustments during the game, never blitzed, ran zone until our opponent got to the red zone (folks I guess forgot how we had to outscore our opponents the first few seasons because our defense sucked), and our Oline coach is still hanging out along with the WR coach who apparently didn't get glowing reviews from all the mass WR's leaving... Got it.

We are making smart decisions. We play chess whilst other's dost playeth checks.

There are about 3-4 running backs that have entered the portal that I think were clear upgrades over the guys we have. Haynes, Hardy, Hughes, and maybe Mahdi. So if we weren't going for a top end RB to replace Sampson, then anyone else you bring in has a good chance of sending Lewis or Bishop to the portal in the Spring. Why risk losing one of current top 2 backs for a guy that is probably not better than what we currently have?

We needed a depth RB, preferrably with a lot of experience. If we land Star, that is exactly what we're getting.

The only cluster F is your post

Any of our transfers go to big time programs????

Sorry, but there’s no way Jermod McCoy can be 100% this season if he tore his acl, unless it was a partial tear. But I doubt it was because AP would have mentioned it

Yeah, have to think a CB is now on the list with McCoy's injury. Do we suddenly become a real factor for Thaddeus Dixon?

ZZ did it in basketball which requires more pressure on the knees than football.
Healing is different for everyone; anyone speculating on a time table is pissing in the wind. He may be ready or he may need a little time going into the season; if he doesn’t look right mentally with the knee you redshirt him for the year and get another year of eligibility. If he can play and play up to potential we get him a full season of good tape and send him to the league as a high draft pick.

Best case scenario is a quick recovery for McCoy but still feels like you take someone "just in case". Anything can happen.
