That makes sense on the surface, but OSU is a WR factory. For instance, Emeka Egbuka was never higher on the depth chart than WR2 but he just broke the OSU receiving record and is a projected first rounder. All while we haven’t had a first round WR in 12 years. Not trying to bash the Vols and would love to have Tate, but it’s just weird he would leave based on the track record of OSU WRs as of late. Sorry for playing devils advocate but him leaving Columbus would just be very confusing to me.

This is the guard I referred to who would be here after CFP. If everyone can hold hands and look away from the worry circle, I think you’ll be happy with how this shakes out. It’s going to come in waves based on timing for various players. We are in great shape for getting an impressive WR, G/C, and hopefully a Safety. Depending on whether evaluations lead to others leaving after Spring, there are others we’re talking to.
Awesome. These are the type players I like to see us getting. Everyone gets excited about the flashy skill positions but you win games in the trenches. These guys allow the flashy guys to make plays. Everyone is wowed by the playmakers at OSU but their real dominance was at the line of scrimmage. Thanks for the info.

Agree with you. All you have to look at is Olave and Wilson going back to back in the first round.

However, 20 year olds with giant egos don’t necessarily make sense.

Plus, Ryan Day sucks and Columbus is a taint.

also, multiple years of eligibility are a huge plus for us

Egbuka was supposed to be WR1 for OSU this year. That is why he came back. He was a projected 2nd round WR a year ago for what it's worth, so he had incentive to return to be OSU's number 1 and play his way into a top 15 pick. No one really foresaw that Jeremiah Smith would be an all world WR as a true freshman. Also, Egbuka is currently the 4th best WR on most draft boards. While he's probably a 1st rounder, he isn't a lock.

They also had Stroud and Fields throwing them the ball. Julian Sayin is talented, but no one knows how good he'll be as a redshirt freshman with no experience.

I think the wisest thing for the Titans to do is to trade the #1 pick for somebody's first and second round picks this year, and a first round pick next year if they can. Ward is pretty good, but not sure if he is an "elevate the entire team" player they need. Instead they probably need to focus on other needs so they can ride with Levis or get Darnold / Cousins for one year to bridge them into next year where it is likely the QB class will be better.

Irvin played in an era where most teams didn't even play a simple Cover 2. It was a RB driven league back then and defenses played man coverage probably 90% of the time, meaning all you had to do was beat your man. Not to mention, Irvin had the benefit of teams trying to defend the all time rushing leader 1st. And let's not forget that Hill has had to share targets with Kelce and Waddle his entire career.

Tyreek would have feasted in the 90s because teams would have left CBs on an island with him far too often and the only person close to his speed was Deion.
Tyreek would have gotten jammed at the LOS. You seem to be ignoring how rules were different then. Playing today's game, Hill would be the better WR because there are more rules to protect offensive players. But playing in the '90's, Irvin's style was more conducive to the League. You can't really pluck one or the other from their respective time periods and drop them in the others' and say they'd "dominate". The different rules of the periods would work against each.
