This is the guard I referred to who would be here after CFP. If everyone can hold hands and look away from the worry circle, I think you’ll be happy with how this shakes out. It’s going to come in waves based on timing for various players. We are in great shape for getting an impressive WR, G/C, and hopefully a Safety. Depending on whether evaluations lead to others leaving after Spring, there are others we’re talking to.
ROI is hard to translate at that level, but obviously Oregon has made their image about cool flashy uniforms that he provides. Oregon is a walking talking Nike ad all over the field. He didn't get where he is by ignoring ROI and giving his money away. I'm sure he gives a lot, but I doubt he's just slinging around as much as he can trying to buy a championship
You have a great point.... I wonder if investing in Oregon Football is a marketing expense for Nike? It's certainly better for Nike's brand if Oregon is among the best teams in the country.ROI is hard to translate at that level, but obviously Oregon has made their image about cool flashy uniforms that he provides. Its not the same for the Vols because we only have like 4 combos and we wear a combination of two of them for 80% of the games (orange and white). I am sure his Oregon philanthropy has produced some ROI with the younger generation and Nike products. Kids love that flashy ****.
It's been stated a few times, but he wants to be WR1. And he's never gonna be WR1 at OSU as long as Jeremiah Smith is there. Not trying to be a Debbie downer, but why would Carnell Tate come to Tennessee after winning the national title and having as much success as he had at Ohio State this past year?
Wants to be the #1 guy. Looking to boost his draft stock by being a team's primary receiver. Top WRs are one of the highest paid positions in the NFL, so much so that there is a huge difference between a team's #1 and #2 guys. Unless Jeremiah Smith gets hurt, he will never step out of his shadow. Not trying to be a Debbie downer, but why would Carnell Tate come to Tennessee after winning the national title and having as much success as he had at Ohio State this past year?
Did they sign the back out of Timbuktu that we never heard of, but we really wanted! Huh?! What about the WR that had less production than our WR, but we really wanted him too. Huh?! Spyre....mire...conspire...to not sign anyone we know nothing about, but we really want!if they pull this off, im not sure how anyone can argue that Spyre isnt one of the best in Nation.
That makes sense on the surface, but OSU is a WR factory. For instance, Emeka Egbuka was never higher on the depth chart than WR2 but he just broke the OSU receiving record and is a projected first rounder. All while we haven’t had a first round WR in 12 years. Not trying to bash the Vols and would love to have Tate, but it’s just weird he would leave based on the track record of OSU WRs as of late. Sorry for playing devils advocate but him leaving Columbus would just be very confusing to me.Wants to be the #1 guy. Looking to boost his draft stock by being a team's primary receiver. We have a returning QB, solid team, and money (why people think we are broke is beyond me). Plus we should play an offense where you get a lot of looks, though last year put a damper on that.
