Hill also plays in a much easier era that emphasizes the pass more. DBs could kill WRs in Irvin’s day. You can barely touch WRs now.

Irvin played in an era where most teams didn't even play a simple Cover 2. It was a RB driven league back then and defenses played man coverage probably 90% of the time, meaning all you had to do was beat your man. Not to mention, Irvin had the benefit of teams trying to defend the all time rushing leader 1st. And let's not forget that Hill has had to share targets with Kelce and Waddle his entire career.

Tyreek would have feasted in the 90s because teams would have left CBs on an island with him far too often and the only person close to his speed was Deion.

Yes you are. Hill is faster than Irvin was. That’s it.
If you think Irvin was better at route running, you haven't watched Hill. He isn't some one trick pony like Desean Jackson who only feasts on posts and jail break screens. He's legitimately a fantastic route runner, and even a 5 second Google search would show you that.

Different game now, Irvin played when offense was run dominated.

Which also made it easier for him to get open, because teams primarily ran man coverage with Emmitt Smith in the backfield. Irvin was physical and beast in open space because he was tough to bring down. He also was one of the best at high pointing the ball, making him a huge weapon on 1 on 1 balls.

Per On3, we have been predicted to land Rodney Dunham, the 2nd ranked pass rusher in the 2026 class and a top 10 overall recruit. Definitely a huge boost to this class if he does end up on Rocky Top.
Billy B in a suit and tie is tripping me out.

This is the guard I referred to who would be here after CFP. If everyone can hold hands and look away from the worry circle, I think you’ll be happy with how this shakes out. It’s going to come in waves based on timing for various players. We are in great shape for getting an impressive WR, G/C, and hopefully a Safety. Depending on whether evaluations lead to others leaving after Spring, there are others we’re talking to.

Guys I understand the hype and hope of landing Carnell Tate should he enter the portal and I too am one of those people with that hope as well. But I think we are forgetting about Boo Carter coming over to the offensive side of the ball! Boo Carter is one heck of an athlete and I honestly believe that he could be a dynamic playmaker with the ball in his hands. Boo played on both sides in high school and did an exceptional job playing both ways. He also returned kicks for us this past year. Evidently he is already at work with Nico trying to develop chemistry for the upcoming season. Love to see these guys putting in the work. Nico was also working with Mike Matthews out in California a couple of weeks ago. So our guys are working hard behind the scenes to try and improve and develop that chemistry and timing which will be crucial if we plan on making a run to the CFP in 2025/2026. Fwiw, Nico has the 4th/5th best odds to win the Heisman Trophy depending on which service you are looking at. And imo I feel like Nico will take a huge step this year and will be the QB we all thought he would be coming out of high school.

Thank you for the update. Fwiw, I and I'm sure several other posters truly appreciate your work. Continue to keep us informed and don't let these few negative posters run you off. Most of us understand that you can't reveal info until the time is right. So again, thank you!!

Cleaned the link up for ya. Yeah we really just don't know what the agreement was with Boo. Is it a part time thing where he plays in certain packages or a Travis Hunter thing where he plays almost every snap? If it's the former, we need another WR. Probably won't really know until spring practice gets cranking.

Yeah, I have no idea what the deal was, but I know that he will be playing on the offensive side. How much?? Who knows. But I do think he will succeed with the ball in his hands because he is such a terrific athlete. Players like Boo don't come around everyday and he is a very hard worker as you can see with him already working out with Nico. He could definitely be a difference maker for us if used to correct way.

How do you feel about the possibility of getting Carnell? Or still too early to tell either way?
