Cam Seldon is a great kid. Huge bummer it didn’t work out. Think he needs a fresh start somewhere and hope he finds a great landing spot.

Does this mean we have locked in on someone, or was this always gonna be the case?

No it was headed this way since the middle of the season or so. We don’t have any specific RB locked in.

We love Mike Matthews and think Chris Brazzell has barely scratched the surface of his potential. We want to give Staley every shot at balling out next year and Squirrel will be back.

We invested and recruited Travis Smith to be a day 1 type guy. Radarious Jackson might be one of the most freak athletes in the class but definitely more raw. Dodson elite burner.

We lost a lot of middling depth.

So people clamoring for a WR.. are we going to go pay to get someone and guarantee a starting spot? Ok.. well what does that do to Brazzell, Matthews, Staley, Squirrel and Smith. They won’t be happy and is that a good investment? I’d prefer to spend money elsewhere.

Do we go get a depth piece just to have it? I’d prefer to give the younger guys a shot if we get forced to. Remember we’ve run a short rotation in the past and can go 12 personnel.

You can disagree but that’s the logic. If any of the folks I mentioned unexpectedly leave then sure we’ll go big here.

Who said he’s leaving because he wasn’t going to start? Maybe he wants to be at wr where he originally wanted to be. Maybe he wants more money and we’re not willing to match because we think he’s an injury risk. Maybe it’s any other reason.

Makes sense and I'm all for playing the kids on the roster.

Guess we will see what happens. Going into the season with only 7 scholarship WRs is a risk especially with our injuries at that position over the past 3 years.

Whoever said that the coaching staff failed Seldon. Couldn’t disagree more. He was hurt almost continuously and decided to transfer instead of competing against Bishop.

If anything the board has commented on Seldon with kid gloves because his family posted here

He hasn’t left yet.

I’d be surprised if we saw significant impact from any of the freshmen given the history. So that leaves you with 4 guys. Staley essentially has never played.

I’ll trust the staff but wouldn’t be surprised if an injury causes some serious headache to this position group. We need one of the freshmen to be a real first year contributor

Mississippi State or Florida are the two best candidates to be that game that Tennessee blows on the road as a favorite next year (like SC 22, Florida 23, Arkansas 24). And Florida may not qualify, since they should be pretty good next year.

That being said, I’m OK with Mississippi State having a bad QB situation.

To be fair, I think we’re all a little stumped by the “no portal WR”

King said he didn’t “think” we added there. Right situation arises maybe that changes? I do wonder if the impact of adding at other positions is a better deal financially?
