If they get no portal wide receivers, I’m fine with that. If they do, I’m fine with that too.

What people fail to grasp about the portal is that sometimes if you bring one in, it pushes another out. So you’ve made up no ground, may lose ground, and possibly increased your NIL expenditures, depending on what you had to pay for the portal guy.

These behind the scenes dynamics are things that we as fans don’t have a grasp of. Will a young WR leave if a portal guy comes in? Would we lose a RB if we bring another from the portal?

But the coaching staff has an understanding of these dynamics. And that’s why it’s ridiculous to say that if we get no portal wide WRs, the staff is fine taking a step back next year. They are absolutely not.

Heupel has 10 wins and has us in the playoffs this year.

It’s absurd to think some posters doesn’t know what he’s doing.

Yeah, I’m only talking about a depth perspective. I don’t care at the end of the day. I’m fine with throwing Brame at WR to get him playing time next season. He’s athletic enough.

I don’t care who leaves if the person we get is an upgrade. I’m not emotionally attached to players. I just want wins.

So if we use the portal, cool! If we don’t, cool!

How so? A high potential player that’s been slowed by injuries with the belief that he could be the #1 back next year if he’s healthy going to the portal?
Given the success and production of the #1 backs in this system the last few years.

Makes a lot more sense to stay than go, IF he believes he can be the #1.

Agree 100%, that’s why I knew Tx was gonna win that matchup! He can be good against bad or mediocre teams but not against the top teams..

I understand this is a message board and we all have opinions and speculate on a lot of subjects, but “no portal WR” isn’t some written in stone fact.

I think KingVFL has legit inside info and I think guys like AP get some info from the coaching staff or those closely connected to the coaching staff, so this isn’t calling them out.

1. Insiders can have bad information
2. Insiders can have outdated information
3. It’s a fluid situation, coaches don’t come into portal season with an iron clad plan that can’t change. They can change their minds for any number of reasons, including players leaving that they didn’t anticipate.

I don’t know if we will get a portal WR or not. They may like some of the WOs as much as they like Brooks for all I know and feel like that is where the depth comes from. Or since we had 4 enter the portal they may change their minds and go after some help.

All I KNOW is I’m not gonna pre-worry about something that I don’t have concrete information on.

This is.... wow. He is a good player, really good. I don't think it helped the situation by this forum continually trashing the kid knowing his family frequently visited here. Because he has been injured. Players do indeed get hurt. Clearly the 2nd most talented rb. I think Lewis is going to be good but this kid took number 2 spot and has only played the role for a year and half. @Plove23 good luck to your nephew and your family.

The majority of the forum never "trashed" the young man. Most of us supported him and wished him well. Don't confuse the idiot minority with the rest of us.

Are you comfortable with 1or 2 of Smith,Staley, Jackson being starters or #1’s?
We’ve had receivers get hurt and miss significant time the last 3 years

I’ve seen little trashing of this kid.

A lot of discussion and talk of him not being able to stay healthy or get on the field because , but that’s just stating facts not trashing

My philosophy is if there's someone in the portal that makes your team better, you should pursue that guy. Based on what our coaches are doing, I have to think there aren't many guys out there they think will make this team better.

It's not really our decision. And I don't think our "comfort" goes into what the coaches decide to do.
