Will be interesting to see if we bring Boo over to WR if we find ourselves in the situation we did this year several times with several starters dinged up. What’s gonna happen then? If this staff is “good” with losing 4 WRs and don’t feel the need to replace, then I can’t wait to see what they do if some get hurt during the season heaven forbid. This certainly isn’t a compete with the elite mindset of setting yourself up to win championships. Hopefully they pick up at least another to tier WR like we did with Thornton and Brazzell.
Leacock, Webb, and Spillman were never going to play here. You’re probably better off with Staley or any incoming freshman than with any of those three. Nimrod was arguably a decent option if he could fix his hands. I “think” firming up the trenches and focusing NIL money there will definitely help more than adding another WR. JMHO.

Only post I’ll make on wide receiver transfers..

We love Mike Matthews and think Chris Brazzell has barely scratched the surface of his potential. We want to give Staley every shot at balling out next year and Squirrel will be back.

We invested and recruited Travis Smith to be a day 1 type guy. Radarious Jackson might be one of the most freak athletes in the class but definitely more raw. Dodson elite burner.

We lost a lot of middling depth.

So people clamoring for a WR.. are we going to go pay to get someone and guarantee a starting spot? Ok.. well what does that do to Brazzell, Matthews, Staley, Squirrel and Smith. They won’t be happy and is that a good investment? I’d prefer to spend money elsewhere.

Do we go get a depth piece just to have it? I’d prefer to give the younger guys a shot if we get forced to. Remember we’ve run a short rotation in the past and can go 12 personnel.

You can disagree but that’s the logic. If any of the folks I mentioned unexpectedly leave then sure we’ll go big here.
Only concern I would have with this is only having 7 wr . I could see Davis moving into Brus role , I like the idea of having a 230+ guy getting those first down catches over the middle

Dudes complain about young WRs not playing.

When the staff lets guys transfer out to make room for young guys to potentially get more PT, they complain about not getting WR transfers.

🤔

Give me a combination of Matthews, Smith, Brazzell/Staley. I’m good.

The 2 freshmen TEs we have coming in are both top10 in the nation quality and BOTH can run like deer. Either one of them could play WR...they will both have to bulk up a little and block well especially for the run game...but they are BOTH amazing athletes with good hands and both are a mismatch vs DBs OR LBs. Brahme and Van D. Could both be nasty in the passing game. This likely weighs into CJH decision about portal WRs also

He was a 3* on every other and on On3 composite. So he was a consensus 3*. But point taken.
Definitely..Just saying with 4 different sites you can see a contrast in evaluations. I personally don't think he's got the hands to play at a high level. But truthfully, Squirrel was tied in the SEC with dropped passes. Wondering if it's Coaching or the players at this point

i've said all year i thought our smaller group is faster and plays more aggressive to the rim. At times Lanier is off. You have to attack.

My guess is that UT Didn’t think he was worth the cash he was wanting (Seldon)
That's going to ultimately be the case in all of the transfers we have who are depth pieces. Their value is ultimately going to be better somewhere they will be depended on to play big minutes. Cam can do that. He's more than capable when healthy and you can't really do much about injuries. I wouldn't label him as injury-prone. That's just big time football.

You know, this makes alot of sense. Also given the number of WR that have transferred out since Hype has been here, I think this is them learning that it’s not worth the $, time, and effort placating that large of a receiver room. They rarely play 7 guys in a year in real minutes. WR is the deepest position in the portal if they need it in Spring or 2026. And you can get guys like Tommy Winton to walk on.

I feel like a minority in here, but I don’t want any Bammers to transfer here….

I mean I’ve cheered for all of them that have come here, and will continue to do so, but I don’t want them…
