That is such a bad idea with zero chance of happening.
I know it won’t happen. I just hate watching other games at arenas 1/3 to 1/2 our size be 10 times louder. I wish we had an arena built first for college basketball and not a place designed to draw big concerts that we also happen to use for basketball.

We need to build a smaller arena that’s actually designed for a college basketball environment like Auburn and Texas just did (and Alabama will soon be doing). Bigger is not automatically better. Keep TBA for concerts, WWE, etc but it’s too much like an NBA environment in there for basketball.
Environment is always better when the students are on campus

It was designed as basically an orange replica of Rupp Arena because that was considered the gold standard of it's time (early to mid 80's). The Dean Smith Center is from the same mold as well. I disagree that the places you mentioned are louder, but they do a better job of making their student sections more front and center. That's really my only complaint about TBA.

The good thing about basketball season is that it is a long one. That loss to UK was frustrating, but not one that would de-rail the season.

Of course, it is frustrating that, with UK seemingly in shambles and falling apart, we deliver the Wildcats a huge win that gives them something to build upon instead of stepping on their throats while they’re down. That’s kinda seems like it’s the Vol way sometimes, unfortunately. Luckily, not the end of the world though.

The good thing is that there’s a lot of basketball left this season, and we’ve already seen that this team can play with (and beat) anyone on the court. Go VOLS!

No reason to overreact after one poorly played game. But I do think Kentucky showed other teams how to defend us. Defend straight up 1x1 on post, don’t let us feel comfortable from perimeter and force us to drive and attempt to finish at the goal. I don’t think we match up well against Alabama.

Yeah, but we took some dumb shots instead of making the pass, and the good shots we took didn’t go in a lot of the time (see Vescovi and Zz). Like others have said, several of our guys had an off game doing things that are easily correctable (ON especially). We played bad and we lost, but we have a lot to learn from the film. Kentucky didn’t show anything except that we can beat ourselves.

I was surprised to see Nkamhoua pulled that quickly in the 2nd half. And then I rewatched the sequence.

That weird pass to Vescovi. Not going after boards. Something was definitely off with the dude today.
He let the defender jump in front of him for the offensive board. Just stood there and watched and wasn’t even boxing out his own guy if I remember correctly. I loved it. Barnes has to show the players they will sit if they don’t bring effort at every level.

Probably an understatement.

I haven’t seen it posted, but the TN crowd was pathetic. It’s the worst I’ve ever seen for a KY game other than those times that KY blew TN out on their own floor. And the KY fan turnout was the worst I’ve ever seen at the TBA.

I was at the game and granted I rarely go to games, it was not the fan’s fault. There were rarely more than two trips up and down the court without some stoppage of play by the officials. Ridiculously long commercial breaks. It’s hard to get the crowd into the game when they never had a chance to get it going. There was zero flow to that game and I think this is the reason for poor shooting for both teams. Hell maybe if there were more vocal UK fans in get stands it would have helped with us feeding off of each other. Just a painful game to watch really.

My wife had never been to a big game over there. I was telling her how electric it was going to be compared to the games she had seen previously. She was not impressed and I came off looking like i didn’t know what I was talking about. Just a blah experience all around.

Their plan would have failed had we simply held our own rebounding.

The Vescovi injury is evidently worse than they are letting on. He has the heart of a Lion so he'll continue to play, but it would be nice if Key could find a consistent stroke. We've seen it at times.

Don’t you all see it? Barnes is playing the long game. It’s genius. Now it’s going to be more difficult for KY to take away Cal’s lifetime contract.

You think one reg season win over Tennessee will calm down the mouth breathers? Hardly. Maybe a Final Four trip, definitely a NC but nothing less. Ky fans don’t consider SEC championship anything worthy of messing up a good tshirt for

Vescovi has an injured shooting shoulder. He tweaked it again early in the game today.
Well if he is so hurt he can't shoot - - next man up. The "next man" is gonna have to play sometime, might as well be now. I know Ves has been a fixture for some 10 years it seems, but some year he will be gone to the Euro league and the "next man" will be up. That is, if he is not too old to play ----

Guy pulls more disappearing acts than Houdini. Maddening.

Student tickets sold out for this game.

Sounds like we need more student tickets, if the student section sells out more than a week before classes start. It doesn't look like there are a lot of seats in those sections.

On a side note, there was one section in the lower level that was almost entirely empty yesterday, maybe 114 or 115. Not sure what was going on there. Otherwise, TBA was close to full.

This game was already a loss after Kentucky's embarrassing performance against South Carolina.

Fans were enraged, rumors of Texas contact Calipari and of course losing at home to USC Jr for the first time since 2009. All of those scenarios lit a match under UK.

Tennessee played some of their worst bball of the season today. 14% from three and outrebounded 44-25, how in the world were we even in this game is beyond me. The lights were too bright and we failed miserably on a national stage. Uros was the only one playing worth a damn, JP showed flashes, the rest of the team was no where to be seen

Not sure where the Vescovi is from last season, but we need him back fast. He's had some easy looks this season and it's just not falling. JJJ needs to just get dialed in again after missing so many games.

In basketball, losses happen. No one goes undefeated and hopefully everyone understands that. Arkansas just lost to VANDY. While UK has underperformed this season, they still have a hell of a roster, they just aren't clicking consistently. They will start going on a winning rampage like normally, this isn't a bad loss in the long run.

Barnes is a great coach, so stop attacking him over one game, he's not the one airballing open layups.

This time last season, Tennessee was AWFUL. Many people were calling for Rick's job and we ended up winning the SEC tourney.

This squad just has to find an offensive rhythm. It's going to happen, we have been seeing it over the last few games, just not today.

Sometimes you got to be embarrassed a few times to become disciplined
It is Coach Barns' responsibly to have the team ready, it didn't look that way to me. That is why he gets the big bucks. Pull your head out of your @$$, and make it happen, stop making excuses and take responsibility.

That section was allotted for Chris Lofton family/friends. A lot of late arrivals, too, by many of them.

You making any kind of decent post is like Ernest T. Bass teaching an English class.

The real issue is Olivier, James and Vescovi. Not too many teams have the luxury of having starters with this level of experience. Any one of those three ought to be able to put the team on their back at any given time, but instead they disappear for entire games. Hell, Olivier got benched. That shouldn’t be happening.

Might be wrong...often am...but I seem to recall similar complaints about JJJ having a tendency to disappear. Vescovi's issue is that he's not athletic enough to get points on his own. He's a spot up shooter who needs ball movement and screens to get open. He's also a streaky kind of guy. Teams that have the ability to put an athletic body on him will do so and they can essentially take him away. If we don't get support to take up the slack, we've got problems. Can't have disappearing acts and not pay a price. The strength of this roster is their depth. No shows by a player or three will quickly negate that. ON could be such a force, but for some reason, he can't seem to flip that switch. If he's not been able to do it by now, it's pretty clear that isn't in his make up. Right now Barnes just has to figure out who came to play then structure his rotation accordingly like he did with ON yesterday. On any given day, we can blow an opponent's doors off no matter who they are. On any given day, we can lay a proverbial egg. Maddening but it's reality. That type of inconsistency is what gets you sent home come tournament time.

We lost a game to our biggest rival in basketball.

It happens.

look at the Duke UNC rivalry over the years, weird things happen and the most talented team does not always win
