You think one reg season win over Tennessee will calm down the mouth breathers? Hardly. Maybe a Final Four trip, definitely a NC but nothing less. Ky fans don’t consider SEC championship anything worthy of messing up a good tshirt for

No. I said “more difficult”. I was also joking. Barnes didn’t lose on purpose to keep Cal at Kentucky.

The UK fans who were at the game yesterday seemed to be quite pleased with the result

I never said “sucks”, I said they aren’t good, which is what everyone else was saying.

I for one posted here last Saturday that we had better bring our A game to win this, bc UK was circling the wagons and would die on the floor at TBA before giving up this game. In fact 4 or 5 others saw it coming too.

It was a classic emotional disadvantage for us v them. They have plenty of talent and would not want to go home after losing here.

We brought our horrific shooting team back out of the closet after a 3-4 game hiatus, and the rest is history. Our guys fought and played hard it looked to me. But, when you can't throw it in the ocean in a game that rewards wins by # of points scored, then you're in trouble.

UK has a coach/staff that's excellent. They are better than the USC loss. USC is better than our 40+ pt blowout. We have a great staff. But, we are not good enough to stay on that (86Celtic, 96Bulls, 16?Warriors) 3-4 game dominant run we were on. The odds caught up quickly against a wounded animal yesterday. Sucks, but it happens.

No reason to overreact after one poorly played game. But I do think Kentucky showed other teams how to defend us. Defend straight up 1x1 on post, don’t let us feel comfortable from perimeter and force us to drive and attempt to finish at the goal. I don’t think we match up well against Alabama.

I think you may be right @ this. We don't look comfortable attacking off the dribble generally. UK extended their defense taking away the 3 and are generally more athletic so they stayed in front enough and made scoring off the bounce at least a challenge. After the 1st 3 minutes and a period there around the half, we didn't look in sync. Their scheme had something to do with it.

Alabama will Blow Tenn OUT. The Vols better find some offense-----But it's a little late for that now huh... You can't beat the top teams with just Defense.

I will say this - we played terribly and still looked like we were gonna win with about 30 secs to go.
We just missed so many layups and FTs —and made a couple of bad decisions on where to pass the ball (to wide open people) at the end. It happens.
Hell, there have been ten ranked teams with a loss today - so far. And 7 of them are to unranked teams.
It happens. And be glad it happened in January as opposed to March. Hopefully we learn from this and are ready the next time we have a big game. It happens too.
And, I’ll sunshine pump once more with a final thought : Whoda’ thunk we’d get to the point where we are all shocked and very, very disappointed to lose to a UK team full of elite talent. Good time to be a Vol!

TENNESSEE usually beats UK at home, even in the down years. There is no excuse for that loss. NONE.

From my perspective, Tn lacks a consistent point guard that can make baskets. Not sure if they lack the talent or just need to practice more shooting with a defender in their face. They seem to get rattled too easy. Sloppy turn overs , missed lay ups, and a failure to adjust to game conditions ...need to fix it.

I think that it help a lot if JJJ and Phillips could be counted on to carry more if the offense. If those two and Santi aren’t drawing attention from the defense then Olivier probably isn’t able to carry the load. If everybody (JJJ, SV, JP, Aidoo, Uros, ORN) can be a one-on-one threat then ZZ will be a better scorer.

Calipari said in his post game comments their plan was to out rebound us, defend the perimeter and take away the 3 pt shooters. "They can beat us with the 3 but not with the 2". It worked. Agree on Bama. It will take an all around great effort to beat them, even in TB.

Bring it every game or you lose. There is not a team in the conference that is incapable of beating any other, regardless of the location. Vols had to play very well against Vandy and did, or they would have had two home losses to their biggest rivals.

We have been beaten by 2 Desperate teams. Both were on losing streaks and came in more focused. Both out rebounded us. Wouldn't surprise me a bit if we went into Rupp and won by 10+.

We lost a game to our biggest rival in basketball.

It happens.

look at the Duke UNC rivalry over the years, weird things happen and the most talented team does not always win
Absolutely nobody in America thought UNC was going to go into Cameron in K’s last home game and beat them. Not even UNC fans.

That's certainly debatable. Seems more likely silly, baseless complaining to me.

I am not saying CRB in not a great coach; however, when the game means more than most, regular or March, the team appears not to have the killer instinct. Say what you want, but the KY game was disappointing.

Yes, he has a key and he just turns it off for the important games. Wow, you’ve figured it out. It’s lunacy that people actually believe what you believe.

Normally defense and rebounding are a given for UT and a CRB team. Shooting / offensive production is not a given (that’s the case with many teams - not just UT). UT didn’t rebound particularly well at all against UK. And to overcome that a team has to shoot it well. UT did neither - shooting / scoring was not very good . . . And combined with the poor rebounding . . . It was really surprising it was a close game.

Our Vols have the defense (and most of the time the rebounding) to go deep in the NCAA . . . IF they hit a good scoring / shooting streak and get a bit lucky with matchups. The concern is there is no “take over” point guard for those times when it is needed in a closely contested win or go home game.
