Protests spread the disease just like going anywhere else in a group of people.
If you argue that protests spread the disease ( which it obviously does, only your side said 'the other side' said it doesn't) then you have doomed college football from playing, because it is a very similar environment for spread of infectious disease.

When you say covid-19 is less of a threat to young folks than influenza, you are only talking about children between the ages of six and fourteen. Everyone else is in much more dangerous than the flu. When you tell the truth. Tell the entire truth. It is a lie to say that it applies to college age or even high school age children, and definitely not for adults. The age group less effected by covid is 39 million out of 320 million people in this country and you are using this fact to support a false statement.
If we’re going to tell the whole truth then we need to include that we know many more people have this virus than have been tested so the death rate of those infected is actually much lower than currently shown. Also, who gets tested for the flu? Those who decide to go to the doctor to get a test. How many people don’t go to the doctor or they went and got a negative test because it was too soon? How many people die with the flu but aren’t counted as a “flu death” the way they’re counting COVID deaths? It’s apples and oranges but the point is this virus isn’t nearly as deadly as originally thought, especially when you get outside of nursing homes and consider that we don’t have accurate info. We’ve counted as many deaths as possible, including some that shouldn’t count, while we have no idea how many people have this. Is it serious? Absolutely. Should we take simple steps like masks to help? Sure. Should we continue living in fear and keeping things shut down? No.

I think Trump believes the virus is real and is dangerous to at risk groups.

I think Trump also believes the media hype was overblown used for political reasons in an election year.

Look at the percentage of COVID deaths of people that lived in nursing homes (1.5 million people) versus the rest of the US population (328.5 million people).

Should we shutdown permanently? Just give up? This “new normal” isn’t sustainable and we need Covid treatments developed and made available to eliminate the fear factor.

See link for 2019 nursing home stats.

Do you believe the virus is worthy of Trump having a hand in $6 trillion in virus spending?

If this is no worse than the flu and mostly media driven then he is participating in defrauding the taxpayers like we've never seen before.

If this is really just something we need to only worry about for ask risk groups then Trump should have given a resounding veto to all this spending. He should force the hand of the states and make them reopen by giving them nothing.

Instead he's:

Paying people more to stay home than to work

Allowing people to skip their rent and stiff their landlords (even though they're drawing more by not working)

Forcing our great factories to stop doing what they do best and produce unnecessary respirators

Letting students skip out on their responsibility by not paying student loans

Giving people $1200 that absolutely do not need it

Either:

He's been duped by the media

He's knows this isn't serious and has cowed down to media and Dems

He knows it is very serious and thinks and is real, not a hoax and thinks it's will continue to worsen

He's knows it's not serious and is just trying to buy the election.

Or he's part of some grand socialist scheme the likes of which would make Bernie blush. Remember he's openly worked against free trade and has mentioned universal healthcare in the past.

Right now the stench of socialist spending coming from the White House must be sickening real conservatives

There are plenty of stupid people, don’t underestimate them. Keep in mind this country elected barrack Hussein twice

And elected Trump

Fun fact. Next time, don't present an extremely flawed candidate, who said half the nation was a bunch of tards and that thought she "deserved" the job rather than working for it.

Anyone but HRC and the left wins again.

Based on the current polls, the season should just be scheduled to start on Saturday, November 7. If the polls are correct (which I doubt), you won't hear a peep about COVID-19 after November 3.

I've lost 2 family members (one at 93 and one in her 50's) and 3 former colleagues to it, but I knew this wasn't overhyped prior to those deaths.

I don't think the shutdown should be in its current form. I think a more surgical approach is needed. For example, Knoxville didn't need to shut down when Nashville did. I feel like we burned ours too early because you cannot sustain businesses with multiple elongated shutdowns. The blanket method was terrible. It's cost billions of dollars in private sector revenue with nothing to show for it.

Media always engages in fear porn because ratings are important. They are private entities so I'm not going to say what they should or should not report. If you blame them for the fear, then that's just silly. Blame the stupidity of the general public for buying into it.

However, this is real. It's getting worse, and the only thing more foolish than a blanketed shutdown would be this gung-ho approach to open everything up. My sister is a teacher and got covid in her first week being back because her county is run by people who think this is a hoax. We're currently seeing if she improves, but she might need hospitalization. She is 32 and my polar opposite, as in she is the picture of good health.
I hope she recovers quickly bro.....

I'm just furious with her county right now. She had to take measures out of her own pocket to try and set up her class safely (she made desks into quads separated by shower curtains supported by pvc pipes) and got her own masks and set up a curriculum designed around it. Welp, superintendent decides to make her chaperone recess for the first week and the rest of the trashwater hicks in her school literally give zero ***** so these kids are just running around with no protocol in place. She said four other teachers and a bunch of students have already tested positive.

Media/Democrats want the US economy destroyed for the Nov 3 elections by shut-down. Until the elections, they will harass and criminalize anyone who doesn't shut down. After the elections, they will forget about their shut-down agenda. Until then, we will be held hostage.

"This is a pandemic. I felt it was a pandemic long before it was called a pandemic"

“It will probably, unfortunately, get worse before it gets better,” July 22

"We're asking everybody that when you are not able to socially distance, wear a mask, get a mask. Whether you like the mask or not, they have an impact. They'll have an effect. And we need everything we can get,"

"We will vanquish the virus. We will extinguish this plague,”

“I view it as a, in a sense, a wartime president,”

"I told the governor of Georgia, Brian Kemp, that I disagree strongly with his decision to open certain facilities which are in violation of the phase one guidelines"

“And now it’s our time. We must sacrifice together because we are all in this together and we’ll come through together. It’s the invisible enemy.”

'This is not about Democrats and Republicans. This is about a thing that hit our country, the likes of which has never happened to us before."

- Donald Trump
Deathbed conversion. imo

We should have handled this like new Zealand. And would have had it not been for people with your mindset. This is a world issue, and we are the worst. We won't have college football, because the grunting ramblings of incoherent trump fanboys. How low America has fallen in education is showing.

Keep hearing this but why does everyone think this...which side does it help?

Because people would rather read conspiracy theories about their favorite heroes and villains than do research.

There were conspiracy theories about the original shutdown being some political game for the election as well, ignoring the very obvious fact that Italy (which, again, gives zero f***s about our election) had just shut down their country, sports, etc. right before we did. Republicans don't like lockdown and love blaming Democrats, so you get crackpot theories like this and everyone runs with them.

Yeah that’s not good at all. School starts here on the 17th. My guess is my two youngest will be there 2-3 days and then they end up going virtual.

So you’re telling me Vandy isn’t run by liberals? Not just them, Tennessee outside of Boyd, is run completely by academia that doesn’t give a **** about football. You think this program would be in the 20 yr cesspool it’s been if winning was important? LSU is completely run by the Governor. A Democrat Governor. Do some research. About the only schools not influenced by academia in the SEC are the 2 in Alabama & Mississippi. Maybe A&M.

That explains quite a bit of what I know about those states actually.
