I like the enthusiasm, but don't get discouraged if the Vols have another 5-7 season. 2015 will set the benchmark for this program under Butch. I expect UT to win at least 8 games in 2015.

A 5-7 season this year would be underachieving. We were a couple of plays from winning 7 games last year. Anything less than 6 wins is a major disappointment. No Auburn and no Oregon. Mizzou is severely depleted on offense, UGA has lost a lot in the secondary and lost Murray. Vandy and UK are locks for wins.

I agreed on 2015 though.

After reading the reports after 3 practices, I think it's safe to say the Butch Jones accepts no bullsh!t.

I don't want to get too fanboy over the man, but watching how he goes about business as a coach, leads me to believe he can build a team that will compete for a title.

Quick thoughts:

I have high expectations for Bates, he's got too much talent and too much pedigree.

A lot of new players are going to have to mature very fast. The D line especially Barnett, Hendrix and (inset whoever is holding down NT bc he's probably new, too).

Marlon Lane has 1,000 yards in him- he's that good. In the long run, it would be nice if we could redshirt both D Scott and Paulk. I'd like to think we could get by with the Hurd/Lane tandem this year but given our schedule that might not be realistic.

I'm not sure how good this team is right now but I'd trade schedules with just about anybody and say we'd win 8-10 games. Definitely improved from last year but the schedule is harder IMO. I say between 5 and 7 wins. 5-7 and we take some better teams to the wire. I'm optimistic about 2015 though... And beyond. Butch is the right man. Give the right man TIME!!!

GBO!

My only concern lies at the QB position...seems to be a lot of mixed information coming from all angles.

I don't see why people say calm down its just first practice(s). I'm not excited cuz i start getting unrealistic expectations. Its cuz its football time!

I was thinking the same. All writers are making me think break out year and that position is the only one the coaches can't seem to praise.

Bob Stoops has got us circled, and he's losing sleep and hair trying to figure out how the hell he's going to stop our offense. The defense is going to be fast.

It sucks that our entire season can be a disaster all because of one single position. If one of those dudes can't step up and make the throws, we're looking straight down the barrell at 5-7. DECENT qb play and we're looking at 7-5 and bowling. It's always something. Bray had the talent but didn't have the heart (or coaching), Worley and Dobbs have just the opposite. Fingers crossed that our WR's can grab some over throws.

Who cares about DH....we should just want guys who want to be Volunteers!

Hey, c'mon now, we all love the Vols, but most of us could not hack it being out there amongst them doing what they are doing these days.

Sorry it didn't work out for Hash, but my hats off to him for giving it something of a try.

I agree, he has us circled. He is smart enough to know not underestimate us as we are rising. Lets just hope that they continue to be the Georgia of the big12,11,10,9,8, or whatever that conference is & they underachieve.

From what I've seen and heard, QB consistency is not good and the OL is not going to be pretty either. We may actually be just good enough on the DL.

A guy who's son played again E. Moseley in high school last year told my brother that EM was the best QB he'd ever seen play. Said he had amazing touch on his throws and could make all the passes. I know he's not even thought of as a QB but just thought it was interesting.

I really hope a QB actually separates from the pack. Seems pretty disappointing so far.

He already did... just a matter if anyone can catch him or not. It is Worley and has been Worley. You don't have to have a published depth chart to notice that he goes out with the ones almost all the time and has most of the time when healthy since Jones arrived.

Read that J Robertson got the best of D. Blair in the Circle of Life drill, that has me concerned.
