Practice #3 - Updates

He already did... just a matter if anyone can catch him or not. It is Worley and has been Worley. You don't have to have a published depth chart to notice that he goes out with the ones almost all the time and has most of the time when healthy since Jones arrived.

Shhhhh....... quiet with all the common sense.

"The quarterback situation is wide open guys"

#1 Wow, great updates and videos all in one place thanks guys.

#2 Related to #1 <buzz kill alert>: All this media access and instant info coming out of each practice sure looks like scouting info for our adversaries early this season. I know CBJ wants to create buzz, but I also wonder about the kind of info we hand over to USU, ASU, and OU. I'm loving it, but their grad assistants may be too?

It's so spliced it's hard to see. No videos of plays or things of that nature. Just drills for skill level. If they wanna dissect that then go ahead.

All we see are warmups and routes on air. We have yet to see a video of an offense or defense lines up. How in the world does this help opponents?

He wants everyone to pay attention to the small details. One mistake in a game can cause you to lose in a game.

He wants the program as close perfect in everything they do. Restarting the stretching just shows the players still need to get their minds right.

Were you around last year when Palardy was the team MVP? He was awful years 1-3 and borderline great last year.

Btw, I'm excited about Medley too.

Nope I just decided to become a fan of a 5-7 football team overnight because I like smokie dogs. Palardy did well last year but was never really a threat for fg 45 yards or more

I mean, I really don't think there's any chance that Worley isn't starting against Utah State. Does anyone think Dobbs might actually win the job before the first game?

Competition is good and all, but I don't understand why Jones just didn't name Worley the starter, make him a captain and move on. There have been rumblings that Worley was upset that he wasn't chosen to go to SEC Media Days and I don't see any reason why he shouldn't have gone. JMO.

Maybe he hasn't WON the job yet? You send him to Media Days, and you're announcing that he has.

A guy who's son played again E. Moseley in high school last year told my brother that EM was the best QB he'd ever seen play. Said he had amazing touch on his throws and could make all the passes. I know he's not even thought of as a QB but just thought it was interesting.

Yeahhh...he's going to be real good at cornerback.

This is about the extent of what their "scouts" would come up with by watching our practice right now

Hey, c'mon now, we all love the Vols, but most of us could not hack it being out there amongst them doing what they are doing these days.

Sorry it didn't work out for Hash, but my hats off to him for giving it something of a try.

Yeah your probably right...just got caught up in the moment!

On a roster note, walk-on Dellen Hash elected to quit, according to UT sources, while wideout Jaye Rochelle was promoted to take Hash's spot on the 105-man roster.

When this Hash kid walked on, I didn't want to bash him, or say anything bad, but since he has quit I will. Last year I went up to his old HS (Stone Memorial) to watch DeKalb play them. I struck up a conversation with a man who claimed to be Hash's cousin. He said he wanted to walk on at UT if given the chance, but in his opinion that Hash didn't have any heart, and wouldn't last. His exact words describing him was "big old softy, all bark but no bite".

Quit when the pads went on... That's all you need to know.

If an opponent is wasting their time watching those vids and reading articles to prepare fr us instead of going through camp as normal, I love our chances to beat that opponent.

Isn't Dobbs working with the 3rd team? I thought Peterman was 2nd team as of right now.

Did you see Peterman throw on the videos? Dobbs and Worley were the guys completing passes. No chance Peterman makes a push. But right now, Dobbs and Peterman are rotating with the 2's.

Thanks much Fingers! My one thought, unfortunately, is I still don't see much zip on Worley's throws. I saw Peterman throwing it with more zip and tighter spiral. Oh, also, Croom makes everyone else look like little leaguers. Man that dude is big!

I don't really think you can tell much from the ground level video we're getting. Everyone who has observed in person says Worley is getting more on his throws. Barring something unexpected, you might as well let your anti-Worley bias pass. He's probably going to at least begin the season as the starter. If he's effective and avoids injury, he'll finish it the starter.

The competition appears to be for the #2 spot with Peterman making more noise than we might have expected by splitting reps with Dobbs.

Look around the league. The other coaches are demanding near perfection and they're already ahead of UT. I like this aspect of Butch. Do the little things perfectly and build on it.

It always seems like the other teams get lucky against UT (namely UF and Bama) but luck has been defined as preparation meeting opportunity.

And that's where the competition appears to be... between them for #2... Maybe the winner there will challenge Worley but based on what little we see Worley seems to have created some separation.

Read that J Robertson got the best of D. Blair in the Circle of Life drill, that has me concerned.

Circle of Life drill info provided by Fingers says otherwise...

Among the one-on-one battles that highlighted the drills were:

Coleman Thomas battling Dewayne Hendrix to a virtual stalemate; Jalen Hurd winning with a takedown of Cortez McDowell; Elliot Berry more than holding his own against Lemond Johnson; Rashaan Gaulden, a day after sitting out with a high-ankle sprain, scoring a decisive win against Geraldo Orta with a takedown; Kenny Bynum toppled Gavin Bryant; Dontavius Blair looked better than at any point in the spring in this drill, repeatedly handling Jashon Robertson, who had gotten an earlier win. Todd Kelly Jr. and Derrell Scott were pretty even until Kelly gained the upper hand; Chris Weatherd "beasted" Justin King, according to a UT staffer near the circle who witnessed it first-hand; Josh Malone took down Evan Berry; Dillon Bates appeared to top A.J. Branisel and Neiko Creamer while one of the final battles saw Derek Barnett overpower Daniel Helm.

Which videos are you watching?! You do know Peterman is #12, right? From all the videos shared in each of the practice threads so far I see more overthrown balls/incompletions from Dobbs and Worley than Peterman.

Dobbs has been an overthrow machine in the first three videos lol. Hope he can calm that down, but I agree, 14 & 12 look much sharper throwing the ball.
