Practice #6 Updates (4:00pm start)

I keep watching the practice highlight videos after each practice and something keeps jump out at me and that is how Josh Malone doesn't give any effort and look like he doesn't want to be out there. Is there somthing going on with him? Injurys or something maybe

It's obvious. Have you seen our quarterback play?

I'm kidding. Kinda.

Who wouldn't? Easily the worst single game performance I've ever seen from a Tennessee QB. I can only remember every game from '93 on so that's not a huge sampling, but I'm sure it ranks pretty high up there all time.

It's ancient history at this point. He looks like he wants it more than Worley and Dobbs right now which I'm sure has contributed to CBJ's negativity toward the position so far.

It's not a knock on Peterman as much as frustration with Worley (and Dobbs to a lesser extent)...

Crompton was up there.

Guy had strings of games that looked like that.

But yeah...he could throw it into a garbage can from 50 yards away.

Yeah '08 Crompton was pretty bad.

Suggs in '00 had a couple of stinkers before Clausen took over as well.

Well, he's taking 3rd team snaps and 3 days ago he was taking 1st team snaps.

Also, the temperature is the same for everyone at practice.

Each player responds differently to coaching. One may respond to being called out with hard comments while the next needs a softer approach. I’m sure that Jones knows how to read the needs of each player.

I watched the video and saw one bad ball by Worley. I don't understand where "the sky is falling" crowd is coming from.

You need to watch again, both of the little 5 yard out routes at the first were thrown behind the wr. (Hello pick 6). And at least one of his post routes was overthrown by a mile. He must be mentally better than Dobbs and Peterman because he definitely doesn't have the physical tools they have.

Yeah but no one one here saw them or the situation or the receiver matchup. Too many variables in a practice setting to simply look at stats and make a decision on his progress. Just like I don't think Peterman is the 2nd coming of Manning because he reportedly threw 4 TD's in the same setting.

Peyton had some bad games too. I'm just afraid his one horrible performance is costing him a true chance at starting again and IMO that ain't right. If he is out performing the other two QB's in practice (which is highly possible), he should be named the starter. Jmo

Love Jones ordering a #1 from McDonald's....maybe it should've been a Mighty Kids meal so he could give VP the toy to try not to drop around campus lol.

Let's face it, if it wasn't for two unbelievable catches by North, we would be saying that Worley got his shot and played below average and he hasn't beat anybody. I hope whoever starts does great but Worley and Peterman are kinda similar in that they are both dealing with pre conceived notions. Worleys is.....isn't very good but got it done against a ranked team so he will be ok as our starter. Petermans is .....maybe the best QB in practice but can't perform when the lights come on. Based on the circumstances of each notion, neither has any merit IMO.

Has he been cleared to play? I don't think I've ever seen confirmation one way or the other.

Another good shot from utsports today.

Is that Mosely?

3 days ago..Swain and Angie were praising Worley for his accuracy and zip and everyone had a woody.. Tonight he is slaw.. VN is bi polar

As I type this, there are 1,869 users online. That's 1,869 potentially varying opinions. I never understand the people that feel compelled to use the "yesterday... today... bipolar..." logic.

Malone struggled at the beginning of spring practices as well. I think he'll put it all together as camp and the season goes on. Especially with North taking him ider his wing.

Like Jones said, they are also wrapping up Summer School aswell so their minds are everywhere. This seems typical with some young players. Im sure he will get his head in the right place.

He's good to go from what I've heard. From day 1 of practice reports & video he has been impressive. Athletic, fast, good size and catches everything thrown his way... what's not to like.

In no contact jersey today... unfortunately he must be banged up. Let's hope he gets healthy, was hoping to hear that he was having a strong showing this fall camp.

Me too... we need at least 3 solid, healthy RBs.

Moseley might end up being even better than Cam Sutton.
l've been thinking this may be a possibility as well. If Sutton & Moseley are both shut down corners inexperienced SEC QBs this year won't test them often, tosses will only go to the slot & middle of the field. OCs play %s often if Moseley steps up, will bring a huge improvement to our D.

Bet Butch told the players to do terrible during open media parts so they don't tip their hand. Everyone is just overreacting.

In all seriousness calm your tits and actually watch them play a game before getting the rope out.

Our qbs look pathetic, I have no idea why anyone thinks if we get a decent qb next class there would even be a competition . Not to mention after petermans Florida debacle why anyone wants to see the kid single handedly lose a game for us

the problem peterman had the florida game last year was not telling the coaches about his broken finger. i dont think he missed any tackles as flordias BACKUP qb rushed for about 10000 yards

He's also a better runner than both Worley and Dobbs. If the oline struggles through fall camp, that has to factor in to CBJ's decision.

I call it like I see it - and I think Peterman is firmly in the race.

He looks crisp.

I dont think Dobbs will start this season, but wondering where you get the fact that Petermans running is better than Dobbs. Dobbs was the only one who could run in some of the games he played in last year. When has anyone seen NP consistently run well enough to say hes better? We havent..:loco:

Our secondary is much improved from last year and will create problems for this offense in practice

.

Very good post and point.

The above is often underestimated as a factor when the team plays itself.

All summer or longer these same players have been going 7 on 7 against each other. At some point the DB's know them so well that the O really struggles to win unless they are just athletically superior. Familiarity will always favor the D.
