Practice #7 Updates, 4:00pm start

If you watch the Bajakian video, he actually says the QBs played good/great today but they need consistency and we can't have bad days like yesterday. fwiw.

I am not sure where everyone thought they were bad on the video. Timing on the routes looked better. I guess some of the nancies want to see 100 percent completion rates.

Brian Rice article on Moseley.

"You can tell he's one of the veterans," said Brian Randolph, a veteran in his own right as one of the leaders in Tennessee's defensive backfield. "He's always making calls out there. You can tell he's been here."

"He's a tough guy," Swafford said. "He's coming with the boom. He's physical and uses his hands real well. I knew once he got some weight on him and some more strength he was going to be hard to handle."

Just stop, okay? Just let us have our pre-season meltdown and run around like our hair is on fire!

In seriousness, thanks for what you are doing.

This is my first season following practice this closely. Anybody else starting to think that reading about how the QB's play and which string they get the majority of their reps with each day is about as useful as reading your horoscope?

Hey, not many guessed that Auburn would win the SEC last year. Nobody, I mean nobody thought we would win a national title after Payeton graduated. The right coaching, the right talent, and a lucky fumble here, and a bad coaching decision there (caugh caugh....saban), and wham! A magical season.

CAUTION: If you misspell Peyton more than once then you be banished from VolNation.

Pretty much. But it's fun, no?

In the same way, we get hyped up about some of these young guys that may not even see a meaningful snap this year. (*Disclaimer: Before I get flamed, I'm speaking generally. All of our freshman will play because they're all studs.)

We came out today and had a good day,” Bajakian said. “But again, I think, if nothing else, that’s an illustration of the consistency that we need. It’s not good enough to have a subpar day yesterday and come out and have a great day.
“We need to have a high level day in and day out if we’re a going to be a great quarterback group.”

Offensive line coach Don Mahoney said the position battle at left tackle, between former walk-on and Farragut native Jacob Gilliam and junior college transfer Dontavius Blair, is more about what Gilliam is doing than what Blair isn’t. “I think Jacob Gilliam is just, he’s playing so steady. He just goes about his work everyday.”

-Also confirms scrimmage time at 6:50pm tomorrow.

Definitely fun. I appreciate the information on all of the guys, but I find myself hanging on every word about the QB's if I'm not careful because it's such a huge factor in how our season goes. At least I'm not alone.

Anyone know whats up with Marquez North? Read where he didnt participate fully today

He was riding the stationary bike during most of the open session, but didn't look injured, according to reports. Maybe, like AJ and Sutton, the coaches know what he can do and are taking the opportunity to look at some other guys.

Thig on Dillon Bates struggling a bit to learn, which is to be expected.

"He's still 18 years old still makes a lot of mistakes," Thigpen offered. "The thing about him is he has a lot of pride. He comes in a lot and asks a lot of questions. He will get it," Thigpen said. "Right now he's struggling with all the different concepts and all the different defenses from penny to dime. There's a lot of things going through his head … Right now he's playing a little bit slow but he will pick it up."
