Practice #8 - Morning Edition

That day of rest for Worley definitely looks like it helped, he looks like "the guy". Peterman looked good as well. Also looks like Dobbs needs a day of rest soon. He looked awful in that video.

Around 4:50, look how fast Devrin's acceleration is compared to the other backs off his counter cut there. Impressive.

For me," he said, "it's just give it all to them, or as much as you can, then just keep repeating it, repeating it, take a break and don't install for a couple days and see how it sinks in."

Who else said this? Oh yeah, BIG BAD SAL

Dobbs looks awful. I don't know what's going on with him. Right now I actually think Wegzyn look's sharper than he does.

He was 5/9 in the video with one early throw on the slant , two overthrows deep and a drop. Not as bad as people like making it seem.

I clearly heard CBJ yelling at him for throwing low balls. Something to the effect of "Josh, we're not going to be able to execute the passing game if you keep throwing balls on the ground" or something like that.

He just doesn't looks good. Like he's hit some kind of developmental wall or something. His balls have no zip on them whatsoever.

I heard it too. That was after the first early low throw on the slant. Go count his actual completions in the video. He was 5/9 with that one throw, two over throws deep and a dropped pass. Worley has been under throwing passes all camp and his whole career. That is why Moseley intercepted him last time he practiced.

Worley did look good in that video. Of course nobody writes anything about that. The only time they write about the QBs is to talk about how awful they were in the 20 minutes they got to see them.

Worley looks a lot more confident and loose. I think he came into camp trying to hard to prove something or was just trying too hard for some reason because he looked like a different QB from the last few videos. Definitely would rather see him overthrowing those deep balls than underthrowing at this point, means he's building his confidence. Worley's performance is directly linked to his confidence levels, and you can see it in all the games he played last year. Dobbs looks like he's getting frustrated, he needs to step back and relax. Definitely needs a rest day.

Going 5 for 9 against air ain't that bad? I'm guessing you've been pleased with Vols football over the last 5-6 years too.

how? its the first one with about 3 weeks til gameday

More than liikely they will look for effort, technique, lining up right and execution for the most part

Because it's supposed to have a live game feel to it. We get to see if the freshman are retaining there information, among other things.

This doesn't sound good.

Jones’ new policy on not saying a single word about injuries is making it more difficult to pinpoint specifics, obviously, but star sophomore receiver Marquez North wasn’t dressed in shoulder pads for a second consecutive day. North spent much of the practice periods open to reporters on an exercise bike on the sideline. We don’t like to speculate, but North’s injury doesn’t seem to be overly serious. But it’s certainly worth noting that he missed practice for a second consecutive day.

Junior defensive end Curt Maggitt seems to be nursing a very mild tweak somewhere in his leg, and don’t be stunned if he’s limited or completely held out of tonight’s scrimmage. That’s hardly a surprise, considering Maggitt’s injury history. Expect him to be managed very carefully even when he’s got the slightest issue. His reps are carefully monitored even when he’s healthy.

There is no denying that Peterman looks much better than the other two when it comes to throwing the ball. It ain't even close. Of course, there's more to being a QB than just passing against air.

I agree. Worley is the guy this year. Dobbs still isn't ready and we really don't know what we have in Peterman. I hope we get the Worley we saw against USCjr and UGA.
