Practice #8 - Morning Edition

It was a fairly uneventful morning, apparently.

I read somewhere Ethan Wolf worked with the first team at tight end. Also for the second day in a row someone posted that Dobbs doesn't have much zip on his throws and was inconsistent. Of course, today the wet field and footballs might have played a part.

Is it just me or does Dontavius Blair look 40?

Coaches continued to monitor the workloads of numerous players including Marquez North and Curt Maggitt, who is just being closely monitored by coaches and training staff for a sprain and is not expected to scrimmage tonight. Derrell Scott also continues to be monitored

Who do you want as qb and why?

I''ll hang up and listen.

He wants Dobbs for a specific reason.

I want whoever gives us the best chance to win. I think it is Dobbs but none of the qbs have looked great this fall.

Worley throws way too many in the dirt and only completed 52% of his passes vs SEC teams with 3 tds and 4 ints as a Jr. He has hit his ceiling which isn't very high. Never completed more than 55% vs a SEC team last year. Never more than 215 yards. Not effective on the read option. Too many throws the wrs have no chance of catching. People want to give him the credit that should go to the D Palardy and North for the USC game. Without North's spectacular grabs of bad throws he had 77 yards on 16 completions.

Peterman was beyond horrible with 4 turnovers in the one half we saw. Completed only 36.4% of his passes. Negative rush yards. He could possibly do more if given a chance.

Dobbs. Teams he played finished the year 2,5,7,24 and unranked. Versus all SEC teams and most ranked, as a true freshman had the highest single game completions, completion percentage, passing yards, passing tds, rushing yards, and rushing tds. Looked better in his half than Worley did in his half vs Bama. Showed better touch than Worley. Didn't throw as many uncatchable balls as Worley.

That is why.

What do you assume is my reason?

Danny Parker wrote that "Peterman threw the football the best of the three candidates" and Dobbs was third string. He noted that Worley "needs to be more consistent", which seems to be a theme will all of them.

Swafford got first-team reps at safety today, again, but he said TKjr may be "hard to keep off the field"

-Evan Berry is struggling to "cradle the football on kickoffs.
-Hurd has worked in the return game.

UT offensive coordinator Mike Bajakian and an assistant squirted bottles of water on the centers’ hands during their shotgun reps.

So far freshman slot receiver Vic Wharton has been one of the training camp stoundouts. We witnessed his first hiccup during Saturday’s open session, when he fumbled a kickoff return.

Green: Michael Williams, Rashaan Gaulden and Isaiah McDaniel. In the pit: Drae Bowles, Dylan Wiesman, Woody Quinn, AJ Branisel and Jaylen Miller. Darrel Scott was riding a stationary bike.

Maty Mauk only completed 51% of his passes last yr and he had one of the best/deepest WR groups in the country to throw to. Now their all gone yet people still think hes awesome bc his team was good. Ive heard some say hes one of the better QBs int he league for 2014. In reality he wasnt that much better than our QBs. He hit for a bunch plays but coudnt throw short or intermediate for the most part. Its all about perspective. You put alot on our QBs and rightfully so but they didnt have much help at all last yr.

He's actually 53. His grandson was seen watching from the sidelines yesterday

I heard it too. That was after the first early low throw on the slant. Go count his actual completions in the video. He was 5/9 with that one throw, two over throws deep and a dropped pass. Worley has been under throwing passes all camp and his whole career. That is why Moseley intercepted him last time he practiced.

Again, you get major kudos for only seeing what you want to see.
