Prayers for UAB

How many of them would be willing to stay at the school and get a degree without football? I don't even know if the school would do that, but it'd be a nice gesture.

UAB is a good school, especially if you were planning on going through a medical program. I believe the NCAA is expecting UAB to honor all existing football scholarships but they will not honor scholarships offered to incoming Freshmen that haven't enrolled.

If the players only desire is to play football, they can transfer with no penalty.

Having cancer and the UAB situation are 2 totally different things.

The lives of these young men from UAB aren't in danger. They can either transfer to other schools and get their bachelors there (for free) or stay at UAB and get their bachelors there (for free).

They don't have cancer. Some of you guys go straight for hyperbole.

The problem with your argument is you didn't say that in your original post. You simply said these guys should not be prayed for because they are not underprivileged. My response was to make you see how idiotic that statement was.

Fortunately, prayer is not a finite resource. The fact tat hundreds of young students lives have been changed (not just football players, but the other sports teams who they are going to cut as well) over a corrupt political move is prayer worthy. My educated guess is that there will be a few students who have a difficult time obtaining higher education now as a result of this move, thus making it difficult to enhance their position in society.

Maybe YOU should gain some perspective on things.

It's a life lesson for these young men. They will move on and be as successful as they push themselves to be.

Hopefully years down the road with wives and children looking to them for support they will not be in a board meeting when the corporate ax falls and the company they've poured their lives into for 20-30 years shuts the doors.

I love how you went from saying you hope PBJr gets AIDs (or at least stating he deserves to die of AIDs) to dispensing logic on how wonderful prayer is and how it should be divvied out.

A fine Christian.

Many Christians = hypocrite. They tell you how to pray and live your live, then they go home and watch pornhub.

If you don't have anything nice to say then say nothing, Love Mom

I like how people hold Christians to higher standers, last time I checked no one was perfect.

Go a head and throw your rocks:hi:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=eAvSuQEh6lI these guys deserve alot better than this! I know they can transfer without sitting a year, but they will never get to play again with there teamates. That president is a complete slimeball

That was pretty sad. I'm sorry for those players and the coaching staff. They just got screwed. All that hard work for nothing.

Hard to watch. I felt bad for them. Everything came straight from the heart in that video. You can clearly hear the teammates crying as they are touched by what each other is saying. Those kids came there and decided to be a part of that program over other programs and bonded over a bunch of lies.

It is gonna suck for the 300 people who are about to lose a scholarship.

Since you're supposed to match Men's Scholarship $$ for Women (at least in Alabamer), then dropping a bunch of high priced football scholarships will probably shut down a few, perhaps several Women's sports. I'd say about 200-250 Women and the entire football team are screwed.

Also, the music program has been somewhat torpedoed now that the band is regulated to concert and basketball settings

I believe the school said it would still continue the current scholarships until they finished undergraduate, did they not?

Good thing about prayers are that they can be used in any situation..good or bad, major or minor. God loves you enough to care about everything in your life, even having to transfer school bc yours closed down.

I don't think they have to transfer.

I thought the school said it would, but I could be mistaken.

I have an idea!! Why doesn't ETSU take all the players.. they are wanting to build a football program.. and this one is done.. just take there team, so you don't have to build from scratch..

Sad situation indeed. Plenty of things to be praying about. Football isn't one of them. Imagine the families of the three people killed in the school bus crash today. More important things in life than playing the sport of football. I'm sure their scholarships will be honored and they can continue their education.

Wow....you sir, are a complete and total jackwagon! How about you imagine the possibility of them not being able to keep thier scholarships. How about you try and realize how this sport may effect some of these young kids to excell at something else in life other than what they accomplish on the field. You're clueless and you proved it by typing what you did.

So you knew the man personally? Why don't you regale us with some inside stories of your relationship with him here by the campfire. He was a legendary football coach and I heard he really cared for his players and family. That's all a bunch of rubbish?

He was also a drunk and a womanizer. Yes an awesome human being!

How do you know this? There was a report the other day on kids that lived on the streets or nowhere to go before they had the scholarship opportunity and gave them hope and a place to live and be given a fighting chance to do something with their lives. So no it's not just about football. Some guys it could have been their only shot to have a Father Figure in their live and a whole new family of Brothers. Yes some will get other opportunities elsewhere as where others will not. Sounds prayer worthy to me.

Doing a little Googling, I found this article about how "little Bear" blocked the hire of Jimbo Fisher at UAB, pretty good read on the slime ball.

'Little Bear' Bryant crosses line again in denying UAB - NCAA Football - CBSSports.com

Yea that's just one of many things. Instead of playing UAB a few times and helping little brother out they refused to ever schedule a game with them and went with FCS and other bad OOC teams. I'm not saying play them every yr but do how UT has done with UTC and UT-Martin and play them once or a few times here and there. But Ala refused to do that.
