Prayers for UAB

Sad situation indeed. Plenty of things to be praying about. Football isn't one of them. Imagine the families of the three people killed in the school bus crash today. More important things in life than playing the sport of football. I'm sure their scholarships will be honored and they can continue their education.

Thanks for going there. Thot I was gonna have to start it.

Gosh, the things that people bleed their hearts over. Every one of these guys will be able to get their education. It'll be a change ... Just like the dozens life will throw at them over the next 50 years.

Geeeesh, its a school deciding it needs to stop a money draining sports program and focus a little more on actually educating people.

America is being robbed and destroyed purposely on a daily basis right before our eyes ... yet were putting together a prayer chain for the victims and refugees at UAB!

Turn off ESPN once in a while.

Having cancer and the UAB situation are 2 totally different things.

The lives of these young men from UAB aren't in danger. They can either transfer to other schools and get their bachelors there (for free) or stay at UAB and get their bachelors there (for free).

They don't have cancer. Some of you guys go straight for hyperbole.

Get off your high horse woman, get off your high horse now.

Although they may not be as adversely affected as you state, their is still a sadness to this, their hearts are broken. Yes, they will recover from this, and probably come out on the other side stronger for it. They will still get an education, the sun will come out tomorrow.. That said, are you saying I cannot be concerned or empathize with these young men until I address all of the other wrongs in the world according to your order of importance? I do believe it is possible to have concern for multiple things concurrently. I do believe the OP saw this video and was moved by it, that in itself is a commendable thing. An empathetic or a bleeding heart as you call it isn't a bad thing, to put yourself in someone else's shoes once in a while would serve you well.

Yea that's just one of many things. Instead of playing UAB a few times and helping little brother out they refused to ever schedule a game with them and went with FCS and other bad OOC teams. I'm not saying play them every yr but do how UT has done with UTC and UT-Martin and play them once or a few times here and there. But Ala refused to do that.

After the City of Birmingham used UAB as a bargaining chip in the Legion Field tenancy negotiations, Bama told UAB that they would never schedule them if they didn't support Bama's demands for renovations. They didn't, so Bama kept their word.

Auburn ultimately did the same, though they already had a game scheduled before the Birmingham issue came to a head. Auburn hasn't played UAB since 1996.

This isn't about Auburn. They don't share the same board od directors and haven't tried blocking UAB's development for over a decade.

You questioned why Bama never played UAB. I answered. I also pointed out that Bama was not alone in that policy.

That isn't the only reason. Ala refused to do ANYTHING to help little brother and did everything they could to ruin it.

You're on a Football and sports forum.Guarantee there are hundreds of pastors across Alabama doing prayers for their beloved Crimson Tide. So I'm pretty sure if people wanna pray for 18-22 yr old kids they have the right to do so.

UAB knew it was going to happen if they didn't stand with Bama on the Legion Field issue. They trusted the corruptocrats in charge of the city and county. It was a bad call.

Could Bama have bailed them out? Sure. But is Bama obligated to do so? Maybe you think so. I don't.

If they share the same board of directors then yes they should. But I live in Bham and know Ala can do no wrong to Alabama fans so I understand your thinking. But even if they didn't want to help then atleast don't go out of the way to destroy them, which they did.

But I will agree with you on the city as a whole. The whole city of Bham is corrupt as is everyone that runs it. Legion Field needs to be knocked down and cleared out. It's falling apart and is in a godawful area. UAB really deserved an on campus stadium and not subjected to playing at Legion Field. I think more people would have gone but safety is a huge issue along with it falling apart.

So, an insanely successful athletic program should be obligated to fork out for a struggling one?

I disagree, Mr. President.

UAB is a good school, especially if you were planning on going through a medical program. I believe the NCAA is expecting UAB to honor all existing football scholarships but they will not honor scholarships offered to incoming Freshmen that haven't enrolled.

If the players only desire is to play football, they can transfer with no penalty.

That's good. I knew the transferring issue would fine. Just a hard thing to do leaving most of your teammates and a school you probably like a lot.

The University of Alabama is arrogant much like the University of Texas. It wants the entire state to itself. Karma has a way of coming back, and the Alabama football program will get its due one day.

That's just a pathetic, cowardly act by Paul Bryant Jr and the Alabama administration.

Very much like karma has been on the head of Vols for the last several years.

If they share the same board of directors then yes. If you have the ability to put in the effort to ruin them then yes they could have put that effort into helping. Outside of Football UAB is more valuable from an institution standpoint.Do you think Ala doesn't benefit from the burn unit and all the money their hospital makes? Again I have lived in Ala long enough to know they can do no wrong and have never cheated and is always somebody else's fault..I get it everyone is out to get Bammers and they can do no wrong. Just like Bammers blame Fulmer and Slive where Saban, Nutt and a few others also turned Ala in over the Alber Means stuff. But since Saban is at Bammer it's irrelevant that he had a big part in that particular probation. Yes I get it..Ala does no wrong..ever..

When you've died for my sins and rose from the dead you can tell me what is and isn't prayer worthy.
