Prayers Needed for a fellow VN Member

Ash posted this to Facebook last night:
Still only short posts for a while. And likely long between. Base camp has been set up for the long climb ahead. Path will hurt, climb will be brutal. Can't wait to crest the summit and see the view from the top! I love you all so much; thank you for everything.

Ash got good news from two of his specialists today, and with the other two, no news is good news. Therefore, the day ended well. OT/PT wore him out, but he sat on the side of the bed for awhile today.

There are lots of rumors whirling about how this all happened . . . for the record, it was a really bad infection that happened in a perfect storm and got really out of hand. Vascular disease in the legs is common in really tall people, and Ashley has been dealing with such issues since college.
so there ya go, that's what happened

Wow, bless his heart. Even the healthiest of people can underestimate the potential seriousness of an infection. Add vascular disease, or diabetes, or other illnesses and it can be devastating.

So glad he is doing so well! It's another good news day!

How tall is he Crusse?

I'd estimate about 6'8", although he could easily be 6'10". His 4 year old son is probably going to end up playing center for UT, although I'm not sure if it'll be football or basketball...haha

Wow! My son's best friend is 6'5". He's 17.

Hey guys! Not much energy to post much right now, but thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers. Each day is a climb but we will make it.

May have my dialysis port taken out as early as tomorrow; renal function looks back to normal. Liver is good again too.

I'm worn out now, hopefully I'll have the energy to post more later today. Crusse, drop by anytime.

I may have spoken too soon. Platelet count dropped overnight. Not dangerous, but I need more blood. Infusion later.

I knew he couldn't stay away too long! Keep on pushin', Ash.

We are wanting to come by to see you soon. Just send me a facebook message sometime to let me know the best time (perhaps an evening next week that you're gonna be up to having visitors) and we might just have to fill your floor with song

Wish I could use every one of my likes on this.Great to see you posting man.

Continued prayers going forth for a full and speedy recovery as well as Praises for this bit of news. :hi:

I'm staring down the barrel of a couple more surgeries. It looks like I will probably be losing a toe on my left foot due to damage from the for blood pressure medicines they had to use to stabilize me, but that's still far better than when they thought I was going to lose the whole leg.

Right now, its just antibiotics, wound care, and physical therapy. I should be fit for my new right leg soon. Just have to keep fighting!

Maybe you can get brain-controlled bionic limbs and become the world's first superhuman.

Wow, great attitude. Prayers still going up for you and Godspeed.

Please pardon the thread revival. After three months of living in hospital rooms, I was discharged yesterday evening and just enjoyed my first full day at home since March 16.

I've had my prosthetic leg for a week and am able to walk short distances with a walker. The real road to recovery has just begun. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers!

And the leg? It's carbon fiber black, and I'm getting an orange Power T applique for the side.
