Predict the East

I'm sure our friend will expound on how great coaching can make up lack of speed.

How did Boise State beat OK in the BCS bowl? They weren't as fast, nor as strong. They certainly weren't more "talented" based upon recruiting rankings? Did they cheat?

Yeah, Boise State won 1 game that they never would have been in to begin with if they had been in a real conference.

I notice how you fail to mention TCU. Before joining the Big 12, Gary Patterson's record there was 109-30 including one undefeated season and a Rose Bowl victory. His record the last 2 years is 11-14 overall and 6-12 in conference play.

The question was "how did they win that game?" Anyone that watched it saw the BSU coach outcoach Stoops. Point being that talent alone is not the end all.

Anyone can win 1 game especially when they have a month to prepare for it. To win an SEC championship you will have to beat 3 or more teams that could potentially win any other conference in the country. Big difference.

Like talking to a brick wall. Nowhere is it stated BSU would or could ever win the SEC. Reading comprehension, it's a wonderful thing.

Dude, you go off on this rant about how stars mean nothing that it's all about coaching and coaches identifying players and developing them blah blah blah. You use Boise State as a prime example of how it's all about coaching and how badly Stoops was out coached in that game. But wait a minute, that same doofus beat the **** out of Alabama in the Sugar bowl last year. How did that happen? So is Stoops a better coach than Saban? Couldn't have been talent. That same doofus also got his ass kicked in Norman by a ND team the same season that Saban's Alabama team made ND look like a HS team in the BCS championship.

Look, you want to make an argument that these teams playing in these other conferences are so great because of their records or because they happen to beat someone in a bowl game...well I ain't buying it. The B1G is about as weak as it has ever been in the modern era. Baylor and OSU have enjoyed some marginal success because of the dumpster fire that is the Big 12 and because TX is down right now. The PAC has ONE good team IMO and it ain't Oregon but that will only last as long as USC is down. That's all.
