Predicting we will beat USCe by 10-14 points

Has anyone ever seen a team do that? Take one LB with speed and designate him to the qb! Where ever the qb goes he goes! Just like playing spy?

Ole Miss tried it Saturday night against A&M's Johnny Manziel. It didn't work very well since it isolated a very good open field runner with a LB. He missed a few chances to make the play; however, I have no idea what kind of speed the LB has.

I don't believe we have a LB fast enough to spy Shaw. Key will be to get a rush on him and keep him contained and force him inside and off our edge.

I really have a feeling that we'll play our best game of the season this week. Of course it's just a gut feeling, but I believe we will win this game by 10-14 points. In fact, we may have a larger lead than this before USCe scores late. :good!:

What am I basing this on?
1) CBJ & staff have had 2 weeks to gameplan. Expanded offensive playbook that USCe hasn't seen.
2) Underclassmen starters have turned the corner and will play their collective best game.
3) Tiny leads the O-line to make a statement. Vols' rush for 200 yards.
4) We win the turnover margin by 2.
5) Palardy flips the field and pins USCe twice with boundary punts inside the 15.
6) Bye week came at a great time to get us healthier.
7) USCe trap game with #14 Mizzou the following week.
8) Vols' have been building momentum, a win here just makes sense.

CBJ talks about the process... I think Saturday will be a big step forward in his process!
Vols 34-21

Not feeling two scores more like a last second score win by long field goal. 25-24.

I hope all of these don't have to happen in order to come away with a 13 point win.

Certainly think we have a chance but SC is a talented team that is coming off their best game of the year. Vols need to play with their hair on fire to pull of an upset. It won't fall into UT's lap.

My prediction.

We have the lead early in the third qtr and we knock a struggling Shaw out of the game. Then their back up qb comes in and puts up heisman like numbers. You figure out the rest.

Jeez. Looks like the drinking has started awfully early before the game. Not sure most on here will make it to Saturday. We may look good at times but once we get down, we will lose the crowd and the spirit. As posted earlier; one quarter of good ball this year doesn't make up for the many holes this team has.

Would it be good to shadow with a Sapp or maybe on 3rd downs spy with Reeves Maybin. They should have the speed needed to stay with shaw.I know the best case is 4 DL getting pressure without leaving there lanes. Just throwing something out there

My God, I hope we do win by 10-14 points. I'm so sick of the negativity around here. We just played our best football in nearly a decade, and were literally one play away from knocking off a top 10 team. Regardless if Georgia was overrated, it was an impressive performance by our Vols, and it obviously took a toll on Georgia. With the bye week, and several starters returning, I like where we stand. Neyland will be rocking, and I feel that we will be the better prepared team this Saturday. This is where we finish, and get that much needed ranked win that we deserve.

I am as excited as the rest of you but to be predicting big wins just because we played a good half of football. Dont get a head its gonna take a little bit ro rebuild. Im not saying we can't/won't win but lets be realistic so people aren't thinking the sky is fallin this weekend IF we was to lose. Lol

I was referring to those who think we beat them. We can't stop a mobile qb. Won't be able to until we get faster players.

Based on our history, I can't disagree about our mobile QB issue. But the Vols have an ace in the hole. (Yeah, right!) Thusfar, each game Shirley and I have attended the past two years, Tennessee has won. We weren't coming to this game but fell arse backwards into some dumb luck. One was unexpected off time. Two was gaining access to $45.00 tickets in what we consider a prime seating area and facing the jumbotron. So we're bringing the magic (knock on wood).

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss a Spurrier coached team. He knows that Butch wants and needs a signature win so he will have his players ready to play. He'll say things like "Don't let it be us!" and crap like that. We have to come out jacked up and dominate the whole game. Shaw must be hit and hit often. Davis needs to be pounded every time he gets the ball behind the line of scrimmage and our defense needs to reek havoc on them. The offense just needs to play like the second half against Georgia and it should be a W.

This SC team is better than the injured UGA team we lost to. Shaw's mobility will cause us problems as well. If UT can continue to build off of what was accomplished in the 2nd half of GA, the game will be close. On paper SC should win, but anything is possible when you're at home. GO VOLS!
