What kind of Vol fan are you if you don't think UT has a shot at winning every game? It's not uncommon to have an upset or two..

I am going to predict scores too but that isn't part of my 90% deal !!

Austin Peay : VOLS win 45-10 (Total Domination)
Western Kentucky: VOLS win 28-14 (Some resistance but common)
Oregon : VOLS Win 35 -21 (Seems impossible now but watch out)
FLorida: VOLS WIN 38-18 (Here is why 90% accurate, I know not happening but can't even think of Florida winning..)
South Alabama: VOLS Win 43-12 (K-town starts C-game dreams)
Georgia: VOLS Win 23-14 (Vols are top 5 after this game)
South Carolina: VOLS lose 28-21 ( Spurrier stings again)
Alabama: VOLS Lose 35-18 (not as close game as score suggests)
Missouri: VOLS Win 23-18 (Ugly win )
Auburn: VOLS Win 28-12 (Not as close as score suggests)
Vanderbilt: VOLS Win 45-7 ( Butch Jones sings "tennessse always butch slaps Vandy)
Kentucky: VOLS Win 28-18 ( No matter what Stoops coaches them..they are still kentucy)

VOLS GO 10-2 (9-3 realistic)..Do not make it to SEC game..play OUTBACK BOWL !!:hi:

I'm all for optimism but really?

Austin Peay -W
Western KY - W
Oregon - L
Florida - L
South Alabama - W
Georgia - Close loss
South Carolina - W
Alabama - another close loss (remember '09)
Mizzou - W
Auburn - W
Vandy - W
Kentucky - W

Overall 8-4 SEC 5-3 Overall with bowl 9-4.

Like that...but just a couple of months ago most people on these boards thought we were in for a piss-poor year...8-4 was only a prediction for the "sunshine peddlers". :)

Swap SCAR and Auburn. Put Oregon as a toss-up. Other than that, looks good.

Put the pipe down! We'll be lucky to go 7-5. I'm hoping we beat who we're suppose to beat and pull an upset.

i don't know where people are coming from regarding oregon.

in the last 4 years, oregon has lost seven games and played in 4 bcs bowl games.

tennessee's bringing a defense that last we saw couldn't handle the speed and playmaking ability of jordan matthews and they are going to have to handle the track meet that is oregon football.

oh, and it's on the road. that's just an added bonus thrown in there for fun.

and some of y'all think tennessee that tennessee has a good shot on paper because recruiting services said their recruiting classes were averaged about the same over the last 4 years.

Tennessee will get smoked by Oregon(I think 35-14),UO has too much right now for Tennessee. Oregon will lose to Stanford and maybe UCLA.

The last time we saw this defense without "He who shall not be named", it was pretty decent.

We've recruited since then too.

Recruiting rankings, while not perfect, are a fairly good indicator of football talent. They say UT and Oregon are pretty similar. Our current coaching staff has shown the ability to coach.

Hope springs eternal.

Yup. You are right. But again, those recruiting services (especially rivals) are right insofar as using them to predict the outcome of any game, all games, 60-70% of the time. The team with the higher 4 year value wins.

Oregon, does NOT, I repeat does NOT, recruit very well compared to the SEC. They over utilize their talent. That is not the same as being incredibly talented.

Notre Dame this year was in the same boat. They were vastly over utilizing their talent. When you have to fire on all cylinders AND use nitrous, expect a flame out against vastly superior teams who are solidly coached. (To be fair, Tennessee is NOT vastly superior talent wise and is in a coaching transition).

Isn't Oregon also in a transition?

And if you are using the argument that going to a BCS bowl game means you deserve to be there, we don't really have much to discuss anyway.

As a Gator fan, I can certainly understand why you don't get the talent to success correlation. Florida is one of the top under performers considering their talent, of late (you should be undefeated in the conference against any team but Bama).

I do think Tennessee can upset Oregon. Oregon will have a new coach also. You also have to remember that Oregon is not a great defensive football team. This could be a game where it is 48 - 45 & the underdog wins on a late turnover!

If it gets into the high forties, UT may be in trouble. Until I see how UT's offense gels, I'm hoping for stout D and ball control to keep us in things.

Here is the realistic projection:

Austin Peay = Win

Western Kentucky = Win (With Dooley as coach, we would have lost that game becasue Petrino would out coach him)

Oregon = Loss (We hang with them in the first half but with no depth we lose in the 2nd half)

Florida = Loss (We are in the game all 4 quarters but come up short by less than 10 points)

South Alabama = Win

Georgia = Loss ( We play hard but can't close the gap in a close one)

South Carolina = Loss (We play hard but can't close the gap in a close one)

Alabama = Loss

Missouri = Toss up (We won't be out coached though, should we lose)

Auburn = Toss up (We won't be out coached, should we lose)

Vandy = Toss up

Kentucky = Win

So, in the best case scenerio, we are 7 - 5. If we lose one of our toss up games, we are 6 - 6. If we lose all of our toss up games, we are 5 - 7.

I will go with 6 - 6 to be safe......

This is how it will play out and I am usually 91% correct.
Tennessee gets caught looking ahead and gets upset by Austin Peay.
That turned out to be their only loss of the season and the Vols just barely miss the BCSCG by a small margin and end up #2 in the final poll after their huge bowl win.
On a side note, Vandy goes 0-12 and their Head Coach is fired at the end of the season.

Are we brothers or what?

OP, why not Missiouri? Are they returning a lot? I know they lost a fantastic DT.
