Prediction: Riley Ferguson will be the next Erik Ainge..

How many have the Vols been to since he left? It is a team game and there are no teams winning many games at any level with QBs like the ones we've had lately.

Actually, I was wrong. In his Freshman year, Ainge beat all of the good SEC teams on the schedule and then got hurt towards the end of the year, and Rick Clausen took the team to the SECCG where the Vols lost.

no...Schaeffer was a talented qb who could throw and run....Dobbs runs a little but can't throw a lick.

Schaeffer could throw...but didn't usually hit what he was aiming at

I know we haven't seen one pass or handoff from this kid yet, but I just have a gut feeling this kid will turn into our next Erik Ainge! He has the build and look of a pure pocket passing SEC QB...hell...he even wears number #10! I have high hopes for this kid and truly believe he will be our next star QB leader (Manning, Martin, Clausen, Ainge, etc). WE ARE SO DUE FOR ONE!!

I hope you are just very young and "dont know no better". Ainge really was that good. Yeh he played hard and will always be a vol, but... common man.

That mean he is going to be a complete drug addict and will play while completely ----ed up?

Dobbs is actually a lot like Ainge was as a freshman. Both had their "deer in the headlights" moments when they made " slap your forehead" mistakes. Dobbs, given time and maturity may very well surpass Ainge. I'm not ready to give up on Dobbs yet.

IMHO, I think he will be better. I know its too early to know and part of my belief is I live in the Charlotte, NC area. When he was at Butler, the local news would spend about half their Football Friday Night broadcast showing highlights on how awesome he was. At one point before he committed I remember thinking that it would be cool if he became a Vol. Partly to probably rub it in the face of all the local ACC loons. Anyhow, it was really cool when he committed. If he is half as good as the hype he had around here, then we will be fine a QB.

The big difference between Dobbs and Ainge is Ainge had Houston and Riggs behind him running for 1,000 yards apiece.

He does have the look of a rugged natural athlete. Kind of like Jack Clark in baseball. But it doesn't mean a thing until he shows us something in an actual game.

I was kind of hoping for a little better QB than Ainge.

Cutcliffe turned Ainge into a decent QB, but he certainly wasn't elite. And we need a guy who can run. If he's a talented passer with lots more leadership qualities and toughness than Bray, great, but we really need some mobility at the position.

I was a huge Dobbs supporter. Fact of the matter is for some reason people don't see the wheels fell of when Worely went down.

With that said, I understand the brutal stretch of scheduled games. Dobbs completed around 60% of his passes. But he never put the ball in the end zone. Very telling. Worely was undervalued.... might be bowling if he never got hurt. Just my 2cents. Go Vols!
