Premiere League & World Soccer Thread

They are going to need more than a shiny new midfielder to right that ship, but it’s a start.
I think Frank has made some good moves to beef up mid and defensive line, but with DCL injured we have no one to score. Going to be a long season while he attempts a rebuild

I forgot to ask @WestTennesseeVol , if you are interested it’s not too late, we have 8 so far

Thanks for the invite, sorry I missed it. I took a little break from the site because I strayed into the politics board and started to get real world mad and needed to cleanse my mind.

Anywho, the mighty Villa are winning the league

Welcome back, I went through the same thing, stopped posting there back in January. If you decide you want to play you can join anytime there is no cut off date.

Finally, I got it all figured out, changed my formation, took Vardy as my triple captain, he gets his first goal or 2, this week and I'm back in it

What is your thoughts on Anthony Gordon? Apparently Chelsea has already put a 45M bid in for him once which Everton denied but are looking to do another bid around 50M. I only know he’s young and is a high energy winger that presses well. 50M seems pretty darn high for him so I’m hoping that y’all turn another bid down if it comes in again and we walk away.

Nothing about this really makes any sense to me. Gordon isn’t even close to good enough right now to get into the Chelsea squad on a regular basis. It seems dumb for Chelsea for fork over £50M for a guy who won’t play, and equally dumb for a 21 year old just breaking through to leave a club where he’s guaranteed a spot in the first XI every week for a club where he’ll rarely even make the matchday squad, much less get meaningful game time. Kind of reminds me of when Ryan Sessengnon left Fulham for Spurs and is only this year, after nearly five years with the club, starting to see regular game time.

However, I might not be against some sort of deal where we sold him and Chelsea loaned him back to us for a year or two if we could get at least some of the money on the front end to strengthen our squad right now. Given that Chelsea seem to own half the players in England and are forever loaning them out, it might be something they were open to, but with only ~10 days left till the window closes, time is getting tight to make a deal like that work.

Yeah I've read about this too. Seems odd and I'm not sure what to make of it. I hate to lose a born and bred Everton kid but that's a lot of dough on the table if true.

It made little sense to a lot of us Chelsea fans as well. We all basically have the same views as first paragraph. He’s not starting over at least 4 of the wingers we have. The only thing that did make sense was Tuchel values the press so much and wants his wingers to win the ball back when lost in the final third. Still though, seems like too much money.

The loan army is what we can our forever loaned players haha but that should be slowing down under Boehly. He already wants to jettison players contracts that are deadweight instead of trying to find loans for them yearly because no one wants to buy their too high of wages and they aren’t good enough to break into 1st team.

Also to note: Frank has had Everton inquire about multiple players at Chelsea this window so maybe there was some swap ideas and/or let us buy Gordon and we will sell/loan you players. Idk, either way I hope Gordon stays at Everton for his sake.

I do wonder what will become of Chelsea’s 60 mil American lawn ornament. Especially with the World Cup looming.

I’d love for him to gain consistency and start more often but until we can change systems he just doesn’t really fit what Tuchel wants in a winger in a 3-4-3. I do think he would flourish when we move to a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3, which are what Tuchel normally likes to play, but it’s looking like that permanent switch won’t be until next season. We just don’t have the midfield make up for it right now.. need a CDM badly. (Hello Declan Rice). I wouldn’t be opposed to a loan love, except for Man U, but regardless he’s going to get more playing time this year with 5 subs and Hudson Odoi and possibly Ziyech getting loaned.

Lord we've had about 50 shots on goal it seems like. So frustrating to not be winning this but geez at least we walk away with a point.

Fulham/Brentford was an entertaining match.
The ability of Mitrovic to be around the ball has been impressive to watch. I watched them a little last season in the Championship and wasn’t sure if he could keep up his scoring run. He hasn’t disappointed so far.

Last 15 mins of that match was a good show. If Everton loses Gordon to transfer, his motor to cover the pitch will take a day or 2 to replace

It's amazing. People blame Bayern for the Bundesliga being boring but Dortmund do this stupid **** every year, doesn't matter who they have on the books, they're good for like 5 head scratching losses every year.

I too had Mitrovic, and thank god I did, cause he and Zinchenko were the only steady points I got. They need to have points for key dribbles and key passes because Eberiche Eze played so well again but it doesn't show. Oh well.
