Premiere League & World Soccer Thread

There are some great European matchups this week, can’t wait. Both the CL and Europa League have some great matches coming up.

I was looking over the Europa list fixtures and it’s easy to overlook how many big hitters are in that currently due to it being a lower perceived comp. Barca, Man U, Arsenal, Ajax, Sporting, PSV to just name a few. Should be good viewing there as well.

Not sure what to make of Arsenal’s penalty. On one hand, Ederson didn’t really impact the outcome of the play, as Nketiah still put his shot on target. On the other, as one of the commentators pointed out, any other player, on any other part of the pitch, that’s 100% given as a free kick.

With all the attacking ability on the pitch for Chelsea, you feel like it’s only a matter of time before they put one through. They could easily be up 2-0. Of course that is how many of their games have felt the last couple months.

dang, City are good. flipped that game when I thought we (arsenal) might get a point

Going to be tight to the end
As much as I’d like a title race that goes down to the wire, I’m afraid City are going to start pulling away now. This was a disastrous past 10 days for Arsenal. Only 1 point from Everton, Brentford and City. 15 games left and they already have to rely on City dropping points.

Theoretically Arsenal control their own destiny.

xG was 2.05 goals.. and we couldn’t even get one. This isn’t a new problem though. Going into the West Ham game, Chelsea had missed 13 out of their last 14 big chances created. The build up play was some of the best we’ve had in a while today, and still couldn’t finish one.

Just got to move on. Down 1 in aggregate isn’t terrible coming back home, but would have loved to draw at least. We’ve got our work cut out for us.

Is CL still using away goals to settle ties, or did they get rid of it?

Congrats to Saka for actually making a penalty in a big game. Good to see the evil empire Kroenke team and the hipster US Arsenal fans take the L.

Oh, that wouldn't surprise me at all. I think City are a better team overall and I'm surprised the Gunners have been on top of the table for this long. There is obviously a lot of time and games left, and you never know with injuries, form, and such. So I'll be happy while we're competing for a title - been a while since we've been in the discussion this much into the season. Obviously the main goal this year was European (champions league) football and gunning for the title is a huge improvement from years past

No need to be mad if you’re not a hipster Arsenal fan. Anyhow, what’s the line Arsenal usually says this time of year? Ah yes, “we were aiming for top 4”
Arsenal are not a hipster team at all, and who do you support?
