They needed no less than three minutes to measure out a West Ham player being nearly a full yard offside, but decided in less than 10 seconds that a defenders outstretched arm deflecting a shot on target wasn’t a penalty. That situation was exactly VAR’s time to shine. When I first saw it, I though it went off his knee, and that’s no doubt what the ref saw in real time. Can’t even conceive what the VAR was looking at.Just can VAR. They get it wrong more than they get it right.
Agree with this. Probably had almost 75% of the ball, but didn’t really create any more chances than West Ham. There’s talent in the team obviously, but much like Forest earlier in the season after they brought in an almost all new squad, it’ll probably take some time for everybody to get on the same page.Spent 5 minutes staring at a WHU goal that was 3-5 feet offsides and then couldn’t even look at the handball.. or if they did, only spent 30 seconds on it. VAR is worthless.
We didn’t deserve a win though. Attack looked better, but inconsistent. Defense was even more inconsistent.
The hand ball was egregious and it hurts with Chelsea having little room for error if they want European football next season. What are your thoughts on Potter and how long of a leash do you think he’ll get? Chelsea has had so many injuries and new transfers that it seems unfair to judge him this year but the team looks so poor. There’s no real identity to this team and there’s not much evidence he can get it doneSpent 5 minutes staring at a WHU goal that was 3-5 feet offsides and then couldn’t even look at the handball.. or if they did, only spent 30 seconds on it. It was in one of the undercard 10:00 games yesterday, so probably didn’t get as much discussion, but yet ANOTHER shocker from VAR, maybe even worse than the non-penalty in the Chelsea match. There is another defender a yard further upfield literally directly behind the guy they drew the line from who plays the goal scorer onside. How is it even possible to miss that?
When they’re citing “human error” in their explanations for why VAR gets things wrong, that seems like a massive red flag that it’s time to kick it to the curb. The whole purpose was to eliminate, or at least greatly reduce, human error. The whole thing has become a running weekly joke at this point.Only read a tagline and didn’t see video/photo but VAR also apparently missed an offsides Brentford player on Toneys goal. I watched it in real time though and didn’t think anything of it so it must have been minuscule, but PGMOL commented on it and confirmed an error was made. So that’s 3 obvious misses yesterday with VAR. It’s not even surprising anymore how bad VAR is.
Lol, your generosity is duly noted. For the record, I am willing to contribute to @bleedorange0037 Sean Dyche tattoo fund, if the guy manages to beat Arsenal and Liverpool in his first 2 games.
None of this can be a shock though. It’s such muddy waters. When the club is effectively owned by a nation, at least in practice, and an airline also owned by that nation is sponsoring the club, how do you go about proving where EXACTLY the money came from?
