Looks like Mitrovic is folding up shop at Fulham and trying to force a move to Saudi Arabia. Unfortunate for Fulham. They had a great season last year, and I don’t know if they can replace those goals, even with the crazy money they may get for him.

Crazy how active the Saudis have been this summer. It’s mainly geared towards players towards the end of the career, but not all. I’m not complaining too hard at the moment though, they helped Chelsea clear some dead wood in time for the FFP books this window.

Looks like Jimenez from the Wolves may be his potential replacement.

Also saw that a return to the PL for Harvey Barnes is official. Heading to Newcastle.

I do enjoy silly season.

FFP is going to be a talking point for a bit for a lot of clubs involving the Saudis for a while. 1 of the Saudi clubs paid 30M for Saint-Maximin. Thus just happened to free up enough money for them to acquire Harvey Barnes. This of course led many to question things because the same people own both Newcastle and the Saudi club in question (they believe the 30M was an intentional over inflation).

I am not looking too deep into conspiracy theories yet. It feels like the Saudis are just buying up anyone they can.

The critiques and questions around the Saint-Maximin transfer at least had some merit. I’m not convinced it’s a violation but 30M was definitely more than most expected for him. Saudi club buying a player from a Saudi backed club for a fee that’s a bit inflated is going to raise some eye brows for sure.

Chelsea’s is a bit different. Plenty of people cried foul when it happened because most fans and pundits didn’t expect Chelsea to be able to offload some deadwood as quickly as they did, but none of our fees were inflated. We actually lost money on a couple.

They are trying to make him want to move. They are about to lose probably the most expensive footballer in the world for free. That’s an absolute worst case scenario for a club. Players are assets and that’s a biggg asset. Mbappe holds all the cards here so they will have to get creative to get him to leave.

When Mbappe signed this current contract there was a player option that lets him extend by 1 year. The time for him to trigger it was this summer which would mean he’d have 2 years left if he did. He decided a couple weeks ago that he wasn’t going to extend, which means he has 1 year left now and the prevailing thought is he will go to Real Madrid next summer. So now, PSG is scrambling to get a fee rather than lose him for free next summer.

What happens if you pick your team but players leave to another league, do you get penalized making changes before the season starts?

Make all the changes you want between now and the season starts, there are unlimited moves until the first Gameweek.

If someone you pick does leave, they will stay on your team until you swap them out.
