Premiere League & World Soccer Thread

I want anyone other than the US women to win this world cup. I never thought I’d say that.
Why is that? I don’t personally have any strong feelings about the team one way or the other, but always enjoy seeing the US do well on any international stage.

Also…watched the second half of last night’s match, and any WC game involving the Dutch just isn’t the same without Derek Rae and his insanely over the top name pronunciations.

Their annoying lack of understanding of basic economics.

I think they understand basic economics; they just don't care about the economics. It's a political agenda-driven thing.

And not all of them buy into those political narratives, either. I can't say I want the team to lose because of it.

For those wanting to play FPL again or try it for the first time. The league code to join is ‘zfp2q5’ without the ‘ ‘ of course.

If youve never played before it’s simple and free. The members here would be glad to answer any questions anyone has about how to play.
Thanks, I was able to join, we got 4 so far.

Hope more will join.

There is a British grocery shop near where I live and they sell quite a lot of Premier League Big 6 merchandise. Asked the owner which sells the most, she said Manchester United followed by Manchester City.

It’s always interesting to hear things like this. I have mentioned I work at a college and coach our club teams. We have about 75 or so show up for try outs and on 1 of the days I ask them to wear the kit of their favorite team if they have own a kit. It still blows my mind that of that many college age individuals, not a single student had on an MLS jersey. Lots of Real Madrid, City, United, Arsenal, and Liverpool. Even had a handful of randoms like our international students wearing the local team of where they are from (Liga MX, Serie A and B, Bundesliga 2, JPL, etc.) But none wore an MLS jersey. I am curious to see if any Inter Miami kits show up this fall.

I know this seems like a silly reason to dislike MLS, but after watching so many years of Premier League soccer, I can’t stand the chants you hear at American soccer games.

Because they're derivative/contrived.

I mean...I guess any chant that anybody has ever come up with is contrived, but you see what I mean. The "I believe that we will win" chant that USMNT does is the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

We are back!

In all seriousness, was impressed with the job Pochettino has done in a short period of time with the roster reshape we’ve done this summer. Scouts found a few young gems too. Jackson looks like the real deal at the striker slot. We will find out for sure in a few weeks.

I will, just being lazy, got a new phone, so gotta download the EPL app. But, I'll get in sometime this week

Carli Lloyd just said something very interesting about the USWNT. She said there has been a shift in in mentality from "winning" to "everything that comes from winning" with the last 2 years of this team. When Alexi pressed her to expand, she shut it down and went politically correct.

I'm sure she's talking about, at least in part, the political/social justice stuff. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Lloyd wasn't really down with the political displays when she was on the USWNT.

Like a lot of teams that experience a ton of success over a long period of time, they've probably gotten complacent and soft and are more interested in the stuff that winning brings them. They're hardly the first.

Liverpool losing two midfielders with no clear candidates to replace them has me nervous, to say the least.

Trust in Klopp, though, I guess...

Mixture of both IMO. You could see she wanted to respond directly to Lallas but thought better of it. Shortly after her comments, they showed members of the team dancing and posing for pics with fans. She about walked off set when she saw that.
