I actually like Amorim. Wanted him to get a better look at the Chelsea job over the summer.

I haven’t watched him much this year but I remember listening to a podcast about him over the summer that mentioned one of the bigger question marks outside his experience is his midfield is left pretty open at times. I haven’t looked too deep into tactics besides some obvious stuff though so who knows. I’m sure he’s adaptable.

His teams are fun to watch when they are playing well and he’s been able to translate that success to the European competitions too so he has high potential in my opinion. May be doomed from the start considering the way United has been run though.

One of the quirky things about United is that each of the non-interim managers that have come after Fergie (except Moyes) have had some success initially. You'd think that would mean the suits in the front office get off his back, but I guess not.

They just seem like a very poorly run organization like the Cleveland Browns or UT Athletics before Boyd/Plowman/White arrived. They don't hire the right people, or they do hire the right people and don't let them do their jobs.

I'm very excited about the hire. It will be odd to see United primarily in a 3 back system if he brings that over with him.

He’s got a big job in front of him to get the team and the club all pulling in one direction. One thing I liked about him when I read some deep dives a while back was he has streamlined Sportings structure and identity within all of the teams. In addition to the men’s team, he also spent considerable time with the academy and developmental teams to create a real sense of identity of playing style from top to bottom. Also makes it a little easier to visualize how you can integrate a younger player into the men’s team when you are able to watch them in a system that translates. Idk if this is replicable at United or a bigger club with established and successful academies, but still, I liked what I read about this.

Pretty happy with that Chelsea result and felt fair to split the points. Neither team really separated themselves. All I wanted to know was how we stood up and how far away we are with a team that’s on average 2 years younger than the next youngest team in the league and we looked pretty solid for the most part. Future looks bright the way Maresca has this team playing, we just have to keep growing week by week.

Prem ref Coote suspended over Klopp outburst

Premier League referee David Coote has been suspended pending a full investigation after a video was circulated on social media that appeared to show him making disparaging remarks about Liverpool and their former manager Jürgen Klopp.

The second, shorter video sees Coote say: "Just to be clear, that f---ing last video can't go anywhere, seriously."

The other person then responds: "He's a Premier League referee, let's not f---ing ruin his career. Let's face it, we're good blokes but we can't ruin a bloke's career, we're not that bad. Also he's a f---ing legend. So let's not ruin his career."

I guess I understand fans being upset, but all he’s really done here is say the quiet part out loud. Every person in the world probably has a similar attitude towards someone they have to deal with at their job. Anyone who actually thought referees were some sort of robots that were somehow above professional disagreements and resentments towards certain managers had their head buried a mile deep in sand. They’re required to disclose any club allegiances they have and don’t referee certain matches accordingly, but sentiments like this are just going to happen. They are human beings after all.

That said, he probably deserves the suspension simply for being dumb enough to allow this to get out to the public. That’s the biggest lapse in judgment in all this.
