Premiere League & World Soccer Thread

I guess you don’t set a lineup each week, lol.
You kind of need to at least look at match ups and check for injuries. The same way you would rather have a Starting pitcher vs the A’s than you would someone facing the Braves. Play people based on matchups, sometimes my formation will change because I have a bunch of defenders playing weak offenses. I may go to a 4-4-2 instead of a 3-5-2 or something. So you would want a Defender playing against Luton Town instead of the Defender playing Man City

You get 1 free player add/drop a week. Any transfer you make beyond that is a -4 point hit. Your squad will most likely look somewhat different week 1 to week 12, etc. due to you swapping out for players that are on a hot streak

I know it sounds like a lot to take in, but if you can handle a season of Fantasy Baseball, this is nothing.

Yeah, that’s the part I missed. I thought it would just be an entire roster refresh each week with the values changing on performance.

Values change based on how many people buy and sell players. So you may be .1 mil short for someone this week but could sell a guy of yours a lot of people brought in and be squared up.

Everyone starts with 100 mil. My squad value at the end of season was like 103.5 mil or something like that

Like last season Haaland came in at let’s say 11 mil to start and ended season at 12.2 mil. You want to get players before their prices go up so you can afford the best squad

Just one single televised game on Saturday/Sunday. NBC really pushing those Peacock subscriptions hard right out of the gate.
I noticed that too. This is the first year I can remember that Arsenal has opened the season on Peacock.

What happens if one of your squad is moved to another league? Do you get a credit to use towards another player? If so, is it based on what you paid, the IRL transfer fee, or some other factor?

remember, last day for unlimited, free changes!

also, I think I lied the other day and it looks like we have 8 players (unless somebody left)

That person will stay on your squad as dead weight until you deal with them. They are treated just as any other transfer when you move them on. They will sell for the in game price.

I decided to pull out this year. My heart just wasn’t into it.
You will be missed this year. You can join back in at any point during the season if you change your mind. Maybe you just decide to show up during the cup at the end of the year, that’s okay too.

Start of a new year in soccer

I want everyone to tell me what teams you are interested in watching or supporting this year. Can be any league.

Also how many different leagues do you keep up with or like to watch?

Sometimes I wish I had a team I like to support in each of the major European leagues, hard watching as a neutral.

For me it’s pretty much just Arsenal but I will keep my eye on former Arsenal player Granit Xhaka who now plays at Leverkusen.

I support Tottenham and mainly keep up with the Premier League. I’ve been a fan since 2011 when I spent a semester in London for college. I met a good friend over there and his father was a huge Tottenham supporter and he converted me.

As far as the other leagues, I have teams that I like but I wouldn’t really say I support them. In France, I usually root for Marseille but I’m fine with any team not named PSG winning that league. Sort of the same in Germany, I liked Leipzig when Nagelsmann was there but as long as someone besides Bayern wins (which almost never happens) I’m happy.

I do like Fiorentina and Inter in Italy and I would probably support Barcelona over Real but I don’t have much of a rooting interest in La Liga. I’ve been meaning to check out Nashville FC in the MLS but I haven’t had the time. Maybe now since Messi is over here, I’ll pay more attention.

Great post and I’m ready for a new season as well. COYS!

You seem like a really cool dude despite being a Tottenham fan 😉

Haha in all seriousness, it should be a good year for both of your teams. Detroit looks to be at least the co-favorite in the North with Minnesota and I happen to think that Arsenal have had an excellent transfer window and are probably going to boast a squad even better than last year’s team (whereas at Tottenham, we seem to be forever embroiled in a perpetual soap opera).
