I feel for Everton and not just because you and I know each other. They are rich in history and were "THE" big club in Liverpool for awhile. Poor leadership and investment has crushed their success despite having perhaps the most rabid fanbase in the EPL. Fall Guy is entitled to his opinion. I know the original "big clubs" liked their league when it was predictable that United, Liverpool, or Arsenal would win every year. Chelsea threw a big monkey wrench in that when Roman came in and spent big. City followed, and that's when FFP was established. The old teams didn't like their dominance and monopoly at the top being threatened. When PSG was purchased in 2011, the crying by the old guard hit fever pitch. "THEY'RE RUINING OUR SPORT!" "BIG OIL HAS TAKEN OVER!" Cry me a river. No one has spent more than what they've received than United, Arsenal, and Chelsea over the past 5 years. Liverpool has spent more than City over the past 3 and is nearly identical over 5. How does everyone think Madrid, Barca, Bayern, United, Liverpool, and Arsenal become big clubs? Local talent superior? Every acquisition pan out? Spoiler alert, they spent and spent a lot. Then they reached a point where they had a great team and could balance the books better. That took time.

Newcastle is on deck. People are already starting to take notice of their spending. What are they supposed to do? Be happy that their in the league and settle for 16th? No, that's not how it works. Owners should be expected to want to win and provide supporters with a reason to believe they can. I listened to Charlie Stillitano talk about FFP a few years back. He point blank said it was meant to freeze out anyone that wasn't already a big club. He knows way more than the rest of us on this board. I do understand the danger. If your club doesn't have the pockets that another club does, how will they compete? They can't. This is why the NFL and NHL are so awesome with their cap. Teams will rise and fall in those leagues. The EPL, MLB, NBA are the same format. Until the owners invoke a cap, nothing will change. In the meantime, hope you get owners that invest wisely. Here's a cool site to track spending, rumors, etc.. Transfer income and expenditure

Kane in Germany and Poch in West London. Damn.

I still believe Spurs finish top four.

100 million pounds plus potentially 20 million more in add-ons is tough to pass up. Levy is a hell of a negotiator but it still hurts. I can’t even look at the pictures of Harry in a Bayern shirt.

The problem is I have almost zero confidence that Levy will spend that wisely. I would rather we reinvest in CB’s. Ange’s system is a lot like Klopp’s and they really took off at Liverpool once they brought in a world class defender in Van Dijk. Sonny and Richy can play the 9 until January when we’ll have had time to vet all our potential replacements. I think we need another world class CB to pair with Romero for the immediate future. Van de Ven is only 22 and will likely have a learning curve.

Here’s hoping Ange ball is the start of something special. I’m still excited to see how we look in the morning. COYS!

I think Van de Ven is going to be good, but yeah it may take time.

There are quite a few parallels between Everton and UT. Both entered a downswing from their “golden eras” at the absolute worst moment, as the entire landscape of their respective sports radically changed around them and kind of got left behind. UT seems to be back on the upswing, but I also highly doubt we’ll ever see anything that even begins to touch the sustained success we enjoyed between 1990 and 2001. Barring sovereign investment (which the world is starting to run out of at this point) Everton’s ceiling is probably qualifying for Europa League and maybe eventually winning one of the domestic cups if everything falls our way one season.

Maybe Elon Musk will purchase Everton? He seems to like projects.

Frustrating same ole inability to finish on multiple open looks. I thought overall we played well and passing looked good. Tarkowski the one bright spot from the Lampard era. Still got robbed on what should've been a goal that was called off. Still a 🔵🔵🔵🔵 blue

As much as Liverpool needs further midfield help, I’m not super upset with missing out on Caicedo. I would love to see that $100 million plus spent on a cheaper midfielder plus another CB. Van Djik is getting older and Konate hasn’t shown he is an elite defender.

And Kepa to Real Madrid
Kepa deal is weird to me. He only has 2 years left and he won’t get an extension, but now we are left with Sanchez who couldn’t even win the starting spot at Brighton. On top of that, it’s a straight loan. No obligation or option to buy. He comes back next summer most likely as Real Madrid won’t buy him when Curtois is back. I just don’t get it.
