That 3 points for Forest was big. Assuming everything is chalk from here on out (not that I'm taking that for granted) those will be the points that keep them up.

With a massive asterisk depending on how many points the PL decides to take away for the PSR violations. Forest are really down in it if they get a ten point deduction.

I’d expect them to get the same deferral as Everton got last season then worry about putting together a roster that can clear 50 points next season.

Possibly, but the PL is trying to fast track this round of penalties so they’re able to make an example of a couple of “minnows” this year before the rules change over the summer to accommodate City and Chelsea getting an inevitable pass. That’s how Everton are expecting to face a second deduction in less than six months even though the assessments are on an annual rolling basis.

FTR, I’m not throwing shade at City or Chelsea. For me, not allowing clubs to invest beyond their exact revenues makes it almost impossible to attract aspirational new ownership, and effectively creates a caste system. City would have no chance of being where they are today if these rules were around 15 years ago.

Also, improving the roster will prove tricky even with a deferment, as Everton are learning now. Since you’re basically forced to offset your losses by either turning a profit on sales, or at least adopting austerity measures and not spending. Everton were lucky in the sense that they were able to pull in nearly £100M just selling Richarlison and Anthony Gordon. Even with those sales we’ve basically had to resort to loans and frees the last two seasons. Not sure where Forest find anywhere near that kind of money without gutting the squad.

They have 50 million coming off the books for Brennan Johnson. Beyond that, it’s Gibbs-White, Murillo and maybe Elanga or Woods. Murillo has upside but I have not seen enough of him that I’d see it as a huge loss if he is sold off. The other three would hurt.
