Premiere League & World Soccer Thread

I’ve seen this floated around in multiple places the last week or so. Not sure why some people are entertaining the possibility.

Pretty sure there’s a better chance of Tottenham winning the league this season than this happening.

@bleedorange0037, have you been by the new stadium? I like old and intimate, but the new one looks pretty freaking cool.
I have. Went by there last week before I flew home. This was as close as I could get because the gates along the dock wall stay locked right now due to it still technically being a construction site. Hopefully once it’s fully complete they’ll have the whole area open on non-matchdays so you can walk around the plaza and visit the team store, but nobody seems to know for certain what those plans are yet.IMG_0533.jpeg

Last night was the first test event and they had a ballot of season ticket holders for 10k people to get to attend. Several of my friends got drawn. If this picture isn’t from the very back row, it’s close. It looks amazing. My only note is I wish they’d added some differently colored seats to spell out the club name or initials like most English clubs do. Same complaint I have with Spurs new ground. It all looks a little too “Bundesliga” to me. But that’s something that can be changed easily enough in the future.

The second picture I took several years ago from about five rows from the top at Goodison. So it’s not as intimate as Goodison, (worth noting that it’s 13k seats bigger) but not bad at all for a modern stadium, and best of all no more obstructive posts.

The last picture is from about halfway up at West Ham, lol. So it’s going to be much better than that.

Olympic stadium blows. I’ve sat in the same section. You’re in the away section correct? Very jealous of your endeavors across the pond.

Yes, was in the away end, but I don't think it really matters. The stadium wasn't designed for the sport that's currently being played there, so I’m pretty sure just about every seat is trash. Even the "close" seats are farther away than any comparable seats at other stadiums. For that, and a number of other reasons, West Ham is currently the worst away day in England by a considerable distance IMO. It's a shame because everyone talks like Upton Park was a great place to see a game.

The only place you might be farther away from the action is at Newcastle, and that's just because they've gotten some sort of exemption from PL rules that require away fans to be pitchside and are still allowed to stick them in the upper most reaches of the stadium. Great view back out over city before the sun goes down though.
