President Donald Trump - J.D. Vance Administration

Everywhere I’ve worked and everywhere I’ve heard about, when management tried to make life hard in order to “trim the fat,” the top performers who knew their worth are the ones who left and went somewhere else.
I'm in the restaurant business. 3 years ago had dinner with our then CEO, since retired, and current CEO. He was the CFO. Watched them argue for an entire dinner about work at home folks. Old CEO was very old school. Brilliant guy. Adamant that the people who make us money, meaning restaurant operators, go to work every day so home office people should too. New CEO was arguing why on earth would we lose top legal talent, marketing, accounting, logistics, purchasing etc over this? I agreed, to myself, that our new CEO is right. Don't lose talent over silly stuff

It definitely isn't easy because even if you are not on the chopping block, you still have to pick up the extra workload. Dealing with that setup.

I haven't seen enough to know whether that works or not, I just have seen the signs, through experience, of that is how companies have been approaching downsizing. They tend to encourage people to leave through procedure changes versus just outright letting people go.

Because it’s a lot cheaper that way. There’s something to be said for making them push you out. They usually end up paying.

You know Elon was a dyed in the wool democrat, Biden voter until about 2022, right?
Then Biden kicked Tesla out of the EV program and started investigating SpaceX.
Dems pushed him out.
Then Twitter kicked Babylon Bee off and Elon finally red pilled.
Dems have no one to blame but themselves (as usual)
Wrong
He's been a right wing nationalist loon for years.

Agree. Our company rolled out voluntary separation options first (which encouraged a lot of early retirements) and then did the random down sizing after that was done (probably at a lower number).

Tough times...

Companies also don't like to run layoffs because it hurts reputation. You want to know that the company is a safe and stable place to work.

I imagine Trump is doing something similar with Federal Government right now to trim fat. Encourage them to return to office is basically a way to push employees out the door and downsize.

We've known people to have three remote jobs at one time, meaning the same hours. Its actually a popular trend.
😂

My significant other is involved at a software company, she is involved in the termination phase of employees as being in IT.... they have fired people having multiple jobs including even their own businesses and sometimes working with competitors at the same time. 😅

That's like arguing we should require all work from home to prevent sexual harassment. We had to fire people for harassment in th work place. This would stop it. Jesus

I am a fan of he hybrid model and we are still under that. I feel like there are things that work well in the office and things that work better at home. I have actually planned out activities to favor one or the other (for example, I have more privacy at home so I tend to schedule more calls at home).

I think that being fully remote (unless you are sales or a position that lends to that) is not necessarily conducive.

The key issue in 100% work from home jobs is the training and development of team mates. You can't teach/share with someone, effectively, 100% remote. Don't get me wrong, I think a lot of people can work fine from home but not everyone can and not every role fits.

Some businesses it can work but most likely you're not going to get much out of them, as a generalization. Go to walmart, watch all the employees there do basically nothing and on their phone the whole time.... and they're at work. The chances of people getting work done at scale is not good at home. Elon knows this, as I know it, as anyone that works or has work knows it. Some people might work....at scale... nope.

That's why they have bosses

Yeah, you are an idiot. Under your logic, why have embassies in other countries? We could just talk to leaders by phone.

Its a theory, that in general never pans out, in today's world its basically a miracle to get anyone to work or show up on time, or anything when they are suppose to be there. That is the reason there are so many production and supply problems.

We have the opportunity to hire people to do stuff on the property, if the job should take 1-2 days, you can count on 5-7 days. :D

Some employees work fine remote but, in the end, you cannot 100% replace the value of face-to-face activities. I think you can go some days at home and some remote. Companies can save on power and utilities by having days without employees present.

Traffic is also a major headache and I work more hours at home versus the office simply because I have to leave at certain times to "beat" traffic and I waste time that I could spend working sitting in a car. Granted, I can sometimes take calls in the car thanks to Blue Tooth.

You do also need time away to relax. You come up with some of the best ideas when you are out of the office. On two occasions, I came up with two novel ideas that paid dividends in the shower in the morning prior to work.

I’m sure there are a lot of smart, hard working people whose families are their passion. They work hard when they’re at work but the job is to support the family. Remote work appeals to those people as much as it does to people who want to **** off without their boss looking over their shoulder.

Also, maybe not for a business in Georgia, but for those in Alabama, Mississippi, Alaska, North Dakota etc, allowing a lot of those jobs to be done remotely gives access to the type of talent that you can find in Atlanta.

My significant other works at a company that has never had an office, they will probably never have an office.. it works for them I guess. They have huge margins, so if they can get 50% of an employee they are fine with it. Like I mentioned, it not unusual to find people that are working multiple jobs... the more jobs the better because if they are let go from one... they have that many more to fall back on. Not even joking.

As a generalization, you are lucky to get 50% for remote work, in the case of walmart workers that show up you are lucky to get 10%.. Lowe's is pretty bad too, man... I've gone in there and seen like 10-12 of them sitting behind the big front part on phones. 😂

What is stopping you from onboarding people during an in-office probationary period.
