President Donald Trump - J.D. Vance Administration

Pure BS. Major retailers are already gearing up to increase prices. Tariffs are nothing more than taxes.
Tell this to the major retailer they interviewed.

Are eggs coming down?
Is Gas coming down?
Is ridiculous spending being found?
is money laundering being identified?
Ae we working on ending endless wars were money is being laundered back to career policeman’s?

Look at the total picture.

I am OK.

Buy a toaster made in America, buy a pair of shoes or socks made in America. Buy fresh lettuce in January grown in America.

Not forced if you decide to do without shoes or fresh food

America who's income is below the poverty level spenda much higher % of income on necessities of life, there is no real choice to buy higher priced products. Wealthier Americans are less affected .
But they all seem to have tatts, smokes and iPhones. How does that work exactly as a "necessity"

Good take.

Question. Do you keep up with Gators baseball as well? Just curious. That and our victory last night is even sweeter knowing that it pissed you off. 😉

I'm not a huge baseball guy, MLB or college. I pay attention to both as playoff loom. I personally fault MLB for that, playing 155 games.

Now, Orlando is currently per reports trying to woo the Rays over from Tampa. If that happened I'd be part of a group to buy and share season tix. Growing up, the outcome of games was meaningless. We just went to visit.

I am okay for a while too. I can always go with California Riesling instead of German. And I think I can also get Californian Gewürtztraminer
Neither one of those are very good substitutes. If you're a fan of dry riesling in addition to the German pradikat-level rieslings, you might want to try some Australian rieslings from Clare Valley or Eden Valley.

Oregon generally makes better gewurtz than California.

At least the touchdowns are cool.

In reality, when a tariff is imposed on a commodity like steel or aluminum, domestic firms generally just raise their prices proportionately - or slightly less - and simply reap the benefit of higher margins. Why wouldn't they? Who pays for that? We consumers do. And this is obviously inflationary in nature.

It's a zero-sum game. Potentially negative overall, in fact.

Further, this is going to come to roost in Tennessee. Firms like Jack Daniels have already been caught up in the trade war. The EU just set a date for the imposition of an additional 50% tariff on liquor imported from the US. This will definitely cause a major loss in sales for JD... just like it did when the same thing happened during Trump's first term.

This is why most economists agree that most tariffs simply don't work.

I don’t like tariffs. The only reason I would agree with a tariff is retaliatory. If a country is putting tariffs on US goods then they should also pay a tariff.

Now let’s be consistent. Does a higher corporate tax rate raise the prices of goods and services? Who pays for it? Does raising the minimum wage increase prices? Who pays for it?
