President Joe Biden - Kamala Harris Administration

They can call the police, but the argument I here these cops and their defenders make is that they are overworked and stretched thin. I'm just trying to help these cops do a dangerous job. Just because someone calls the cops, the cops need to have a certain level of discernment and weigh out of each situation is worthy of their time and resources. Cops going out inserting themselves in mask mandates and Biden stickers on gas pumps is a silly and petty use of their time... unless the cops have a lot of free time on their hands in between muggings, robberies and killings.

Now which is it, Ricky? Do cops have time for all of these petty azz incidents or do we need to invest in more officers to accommodate these needs?

In Maryland they didn’t have time to investigate petty theft or even car thefts in some places (your insurance company will do that!), but you could find two or three at a time responding to a maskless person in Target. It was ridiculous.

Good news: The SSA just announced a record consumer price index increase for Social Security recipients of 2.3%!

So we get to pay more because of inflation and more in income taxes. Seems like we are "improving" in reverse. I wonder how many people wind up not having to pay tax on what they get in SS while the rest of us do because the government has never really indexed tax rates to inflation. I don't know about you, but doing taxes is a nightmare for me; my wife and I both have pensions, both draw SS, I have four retirement accounts and take the minimum required distribution (next year my wife will have at least one more to add to the equation); and the tax tables don't account for multiple sources. I do estimated payments, and have a percentage withholding on the RMDs and still owe tax and a penalty. I'm getting a better handle on it, but I hate this time of year and the IRS. Oh and that 2.3% increase minus the income tax will do wonders toward 8% inflation.

This will be passed to the consumer.

Government inflicted energy cost increases are the most regressive tax available. The worst part is that consumers are screwed in every way possible; and except for speculators and producers - and congress, nobody wins. Hopefully the GOP will have enough sense to demonstrate how dems have been responsible for a lot of the increase and use it during the midterms.

One silver lining with the oncoming recession that will be needed to kill the inflation cockroach is the death of progressivism. Of course they could just continue on and ignore it with the fed budget sucking up all resources at the expense of the American worker and taxpayer like some hyperdrive death wish. Gotta admit I am worried.

"Indeed, any president mulling Nixon’s choice of recession-inducing fiscal or monetary policies might be tempted to resort to the easy-to-understand, if dangerous, strategy of wage and price controls in which the pain is mostly back-loaded, particularly in or near an election year."

Not a bad read sans the hypothetical TDS scenario, which ironically is now placed at Biden's feet. A year old and fears of backloading..Yes sir, they will backload us to hell

I’m guessing they wait to throw this Hail Mary in late summer.

Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) told activists on Wednesday that President Biden and his senior advisers are warming up to the idea of forgiving student debt, insisting they are closer to pulling the trigger “than ever before.”
Schumer, who has repeatedly called for canceling up to $50,000 in student debt per borrower, predicted that’s where the president and his administration will ultimately land.

If I'm allowed a free hand to enforce my property rights there would be several dead bodies laying by the street.
You, Average Citizen, would still need to go to court to plead your case. I'm not to the point (yet) where I think property owners need to have immunity like these cops, however.

Police don’t have immunity if they are truly violating rights or acting outside the law. Citizens are also afforded self defense rights within the law.
